Per the title, does anyone have any recommendations in alternative mounting methods for a front license plate? I don't like the GM mount, and am NOT willing to drill through the new bodykit once it's installed. Magnets? Some form of bracket? I guess I could zip tie it to my grilles, but that would look aweful. Oh, and I COULD go back to the GM mount for now, had I not lost parts of it Anyway, I'm just looking for any suggestions at this point. I drive right by LAX (airport) from home to work, and the LAX cops have NOTHING better to do than stop people for crap like not having a front bumper-mounted plate. I've only been stopped once, but I've seen at least 3 other people stopped for the same reason. Thanks for your suggestions.PS double-sided tape does NOT work
You could get a customizing shop to make like an enclosure for the license plate. But I would not recommend doing that. Too much $. Unless you have the spare cash laying around.Inder

Took mine off as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as it is visible from the front of the vehicle it is fine, right? I ust took mine off and put in on the passenger side visor under the strap so you can still see it from the front of the vehicle. I haven't gotten pulled over down here, but then I was watching on eday and saw like 10 cars that didn't even have any visible front plate, and I guess they weren't worried, so not sure about that.

CA law REQUIRES that you not only have both a front & rear license plate, but it MUST be mounted ON your bumper....!@##% CA laws and cops with nothing better to do! I have it in my dash, clearly visible, but that didn't matter to the cop that pulled me over.Jason, please sign this petition when you get the chance: http://www.petitiononline.com/....html

This SoCal Matrix Owner screwed it to the underside of the front bumper and bent it to sit flat against the lower grill. Not sure if this can be done on the Vibe's front end though.
Christian,When we get the test pieces back I'll see if I can make a bracket that screws to the inner structure and doesn't touch the bumper itself. It shouldn't be too long before we get it back and I'll see what I can whip up that is still show worthy.Chris

Does the CA law require THE California official license plate on the front, or just the number/letter combination? Maybe you could use the wide, thin 'European' style plate(s) with your official California number/letter designation?
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

To the best of my knowledge, no euro plates allowed.

That would be awesome if you could do it. For now, I've used a couple zip-ties to my lower grille. Doesn't look too pretty, but gets the job done.
