Vibe spotted on XM trivia!

Post by dtw80209 »

Ok, so it's not really a big deal, but if you follow the link below and play XM Radio's trivia game, you'll notice that the car you're driving around in is a Vibe. http://www.xmradio.com/trivia/triviastart.html

I still don't understand why GM wouldn't offer XM in the vibe. I'd think it would be the vehicle that would be easiest to "sell" XM in. I believe the Vibe is targeted for the "younger" crowd and to me those are the ones who are most interest in XM. I've got XM in my Grand Am, not factory though, missed that by a year.

quote:Correct me canadians friends if I am wrong but this is not available in Canada. You're correct. Quoted from XM's site:quote:Is XM Service available in Canada and Mexico? XM is only licensed to provide service to the US (All states except Alaska and Hawaii), its territories and adjacent waters. XM's satellite signal reaches into portions of Canada and Mexico near the U.S. borders however, XM's service is not currently sold in Canada, Mexico or any other region outside of the continental United States.

I had XM installed in my car using an FM mod with my factory installed stereo.

Which XM receiver did you opt for? I was gonna get one, but I really wanted a factory-installed head unit equipped for it...like in the sunfire...but my dealer told me I can't get a sunfire radio installed int he vibe. which makes no sense, since they seem to be identical.

I bought a Pioneer unit. The box was installed underneath the passanger seat and they placed the control unit underneath the gear shift on the raised carpeted area. The installer also made a little plastic part so the control/display unit would be facing up at an angle. I can also remove it from the plastic part as well.As for the actual model number, I have no clue as to which Pioneer unit it was... but it did have a blue display if that helps.

I think I know which one you're talking about -- it has a small tuner, about the size of a 2 matchbooks side-by-side, right?Don't you find it hard to tune so far down on the ground? Is it permanantly installed there? Like, did the run the wire up through the body, or is it just tucked away so you could move it should you ever choose? Did you have a private installer do it, or one like best buy, or another major retailer? Thanks!

I bought it and had it installed at Circuit City. The controll unit I would say is a little smaller than the size of a Milky Way bar. So we're probably talking about the same one.I don't find it hard to look at the display or hit the buttons to change the stations because I'm a tall guy and naturally have long arms. It can however, come off that plastic piece they made. They also left enough wire so I could bring the unit and place it elsewhere, like on the seat or my leg... they just hid the excess wire.
