neccessary cold cranking amps

Post by satur9 »

i need a new battery. i want a yellowtop optima because of my interior neons, car stereo, nitrous bottle opener and heater, etc. my remotestart wouldnt start my car this morning(7 degrees f) and i had to get a jump for the ride home.the yellowtop that fits has 500cca which is 170 more than stock.will this be sufficcient to start my car on those cold days(the remote start doesnt crank long and tries only 3 times 30 seconds apart)or shouldi sacrifice the yellow for the 750cca redtop and live with dimming lights when i crank the radio.or will the yellow be fine.i also plan on adding more accessories which is why i want the yellow
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

I would honestly go with the yellow top. I haven't many problems with mine (knock on wood) but n e ways, I would recommend getting the yellow top.Inder

what is it about Optima batteries that make them worth the higher price compared to a conventional battery with the same CCA?

They're deep cells, so they provide more reserve power...Also, the red top I believe has a higher cranking output...could be wrong though. For the record, satur9, the 05 models (and serviced 03/04 models) received delphi 550 CCA...

Red top is designed to be a daily starter, but can be deep cycled every now and again. The yellow top is designed specifically to be a deep cycle, able to be drained and recharged many times.
