I am new to this Forum but now that I have finally opened up my wallet and purchased a Vibe I have some information I would like to post and a question. For those who are still looking I got what I believe was a fair deal here in Mass. With the combination of GM Incentives, GMS and some wheel and dealing here is how it laid out; 2005 Vibe GT Salsa, 17"Alum Wheels, Moon and Tunes, XM Radio, Power Package, SS Exhaust Tip, Mono Tone, cargo mat/cargo netting, rear bumper protector, and 5yr 100K Bump to Bump Warranty for My first question is; for those who have GT's what kind of mileage are you getting? I have about 450 miles on the car and the first time I filled up (the tank was just over 1/2 full) I calculated 26MPG. The second time I filled up (the tank was showing "E" with the little yellow light illuminated) I calculated 29MPG. Generally my driving is 25-30% city and 75-80% highway. My highway speeds usually average out to be 68-72MPH. I was hoping for over 30MPG but I wasn't able to find a Base/5spd with the options I wanted, so I settled for the GT. (91 Octane $$$ Ouch!) Finally, I would like to purchase rubber floor mats and the cross bars for the roof rack. Does anyone have a source for these things? All in all I am very happy with the car, it feels well built, it is comfortable for a 6'3" driver and although I wouldn't call it a "sports car" it out performs what I was driving before, hands down.
Hello. Welcome to the forums. And to get the cross bars. You may want to consider some aftermarket ones if you plan on doing some actual hauling on the top. I wouldn't recommend getting the OE ones. Those are pretty much useless as some people have said. The rubber floor mats, you can buy those from :http://www.gmpartsdirect.comInder

Heya responselx,Congrats on the new Vibe. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of yours as I have with mine. As for the gas mileage... I was a bit concerned at first with only getting 27-28 mpg on the highway but now during the Summer, I'm getting 31-33 Highway. You will probably notice a major drop-off in mileage as it gets colder. Mine wasn't so bad last year (in the mid-upper 20's) but this year I've noticed it's worse, I think mainly due to the new intake. I'm lucky to get above 24mpg when it drops below 30 degrees outside. What you're getting now seems about right for the GT. And, I've said this before but the price of premium fuel isn't really as bad as you might think. Sure, you're paying $.20 more per gallon but that's only about 10% more... If regular gas was $.50 less per gallon and yet you were still paying $.20 more than reg, you'd be paying 15% more than regular. So, if you think of it percentage wise, it's not too bad.Dave
Also keep in mind, fuel economy suffers during the engine break-in period...After a few thousand miles you'll see it improve drastically (assuming "normal" driving habits and no excessive runs in lift )
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Welcome and congrats on you purchase... Man I wish I had to "settle for a GT" I had to look hi and low to find one... and luckily found one with the color I wanted.. the only thing I could not get was the 17'' rims... but I am very happy with mine and I get about 26-29 MPG depending on how many honda's I run into
