Is there a way to search for members by location?

Post by damronjr »

As stated above, and also, I wanted to put out an all-call to have everyone update or register in the registry. I didn't even realize after almost a year that you had to go in and register separately from just signing up! I thought maybe some others have as well and a lot of the pictures in the registry no longer work. Updates would be cool! Just an idea.

There actually is a way to search for members in a certain area. Just go to forums at the top of the page, then go to member list and just type in the state city or whatever you want to find out . It should work. I just tried it.Inder

Go to the Member ListYou can enter in a state, usually an abbreviation, and also select a sort criteria. For example, searching for members from CA with descending sort on Last Post Date indicates that (30 per page) 37 of the 221 members from "CA" have posted since October 1.There are also 4 users from "California"

Thanks guys. I see this will be hard to do by location, though, as in Southern CA, but I will have to filter through them I guess. Appreciate the help. Perhaps I should have gone there and looked before opening by big mouth ! I think I even did this once! Oh well, live and learn.

Naw, you know what though, this is how people learn to use the forum. It doesn't matter. Some people just have a hard time finding certain things on the forums. I know I did. I'm used to it now. Inder

If you're looking to see who is around, maybe find the appropriate regional forum and post a roll call thread, asking people in the area to post up and say "here".It would help if there was a way to display city and state in the results from a search in the Member List, but that may not be somethhing that is easy to configure in the forum software

I just went through all of the members listed in CA by last post date, found all those within the last month or so, looked them all up by user for their city, then looked up the cities on mapquest. Took a while, but I found 16 current members in the SD and LA area! Was kind of a pain, but I'm at work, so might as well use Navy time productively for something!
