I'm looking to race my vibe and im looking to put a turbo kit, intercooler and NOS in it. I found the nitrus oxide kit, but the turbo and the intercooler are another story. If anyone has any information about how to or where i can get one i would appreciate it.Walker

The thing is, is the there is a Vibe gt over ther right now with their turbo kit on it.!!! Stafford took me on a ride in it!!!...The car was a rocket!...had a real smooth power delivery all the way to red line. 'Lift' was less noticeable , as the thing was in boost the whole time. Its like running a movie on fast forward!..The speed is unbelievable, very impressive! The kit looks really great too, even better than the celica gt-s kits as there are pipes going everywhere under the hood...very very cool looking.Anyway, for those who get this kit, you will be definately taking things to a new level. You have to ride in this turboed beast to know what I mean

With running forced induction on a XRS/GT, be careful, whether you choose to SC or TC it. The VVTL-i engine is ran at a much higher compression ratio, and it becomes dangerous when running at any level of boost/psi that is more than a minimal level. At the VERY least, you should consider changing out the stock internals before dropping a turbo in a GT/XRS (Or ANY car for that matter). An intercooler would be a must as well, and you may want to consider a bypass valve or a blowoff valve to properly accomodate your turbocharger. (A blowoff valve lets out the hot/pressurized air, so the turbo may draw in new colder air. It can be argued, however, that once the air is ran through the intercooler, that it would cool down enough that it could be ran through the turbocharger without the addition on a blowoff valve. Ask the friendly people at Garret for the specific turbo you choose to install. A Garret T3/T4, or a Mitsubishi TD05H-18G would both be very acceptable turbos. The T3/T4 being able to handle levels of 25 psi comfortably, and can support around 475 hp unless I'm mistaken).
I'm currently running at 14 psi, a nice level that I'm satisfied with. It allows me to use my car as a daily driver that still has enough (removed)-end to get up and go. You should also seriously consider installing either a manual boost controller, or something like an A'Pexi Boost Controller.
O man. You dynoed yours yet? Or even takin it to the track? Any internal work done to the motor? If no dynos, then do you have an approx. hp rating?Inder

Not yet, it's just recently broken in, so dyno/track is sadly a negative. As far as internal parts, TC, IC, BOV, WG, turbo-back exhaust, racing cat, and a wrap-around turbo CAI. 1.5" Tein drop, 17" Mean G rims wrapped with Toyo Proxes.I used some Silvanias, but I was very sorely disapointed in them, as them seem to burn out faster than a college drop out. My headlights are now back to stock specifications.
So, there is no literal internal work done to the motor? Because I went to http://www.monkeywrench.com and I saw that they make quite a few things for internal work for our cars.Inder

Yeah. I plan on doing it, But if I do it, then I will prolly see if I can swap out my tranny for the GT tranny, if it fits. I plan on doing all my internal motor work, then do the turbo.Inder

I'm unsure as to the Vibe's specific transmission, but automatics are definately able to be turbocharged otherwise. Look in the classified ads at all of the automatic turbo porche's, quite a few of them. Quite a few other brands as well. I've also seen aftermarket A/T Turbo cars at H.I.N. before, so it can be done. You may want to consider using a system such as a tiptronic autoshifter, as it would be less difficult to introduce that modification rather than change out the entire transmission, and install a clutch pedal.
Yeah. but see, I know for a fact that my tranny will be the first thing to go when I get my F/I. Because I don't know how strong our tranny's are. And I would like to get the Manumatic option. But yeah.Inder

Well, if you plan to do extensive work you may want to get the transmission reinforced or a high performance one. Transmissions are a weak part of the car for high horsepower cars.

The highest boosted 2zz motor I have heard of is 11psi, that was tuned with a stand alone engine management and was on the brink of pre dentonation. I am hearing fiction in "It allows me to use my car as a daily driver that still has enough (removed)-end to get up and go." 14 psi in this car hunts down and kills 350z's...this aint no wrx whose daily setting is 14 psi, their compression is lower, it needs more air to make thier 200whp. we only need 8 pse to make 200whp.

There are many things to replace, like the flywheel (smaller in autos), PCM, etc.Autos are actually pretty good with turbos. Look at Syclone/Typhoons, GN"s etc. THey are good because when an auto shifts, the boost doesn't fall off because the throttle is constantly on the floor. Powerbraking is also an effective launching tool that is easier to master than getting off of the line with a manual (and less abusive). Plus, no manual shifter can change gears as fast as an auto...no matter what anyone says. For proof, just look at any serious drag car.....all autos. If you are looking at autocrossing, then a manual is the way to go, for it provides better control when rounding corners. However, autocrossing with a turbo is not the easiest thing to do because of the non-linear power delivery.
Yeah. I don't plan on doing this for a while. But thanks for the heads up man . I plan on gettin the internal motor work done first. By then hopefully, there will be a beefer tranny out and I'll try to swap it. I'll keep it an auto as you suggested.Inder
