In-Dash Cigarette Lighter

Post by Space_Cowboy »

okay...so the other day, I decided it'd be kind of a fun thing to plug in my laptop to my car and have people watch dvd's as we took a road trip. since the 2-prong plug was already being occupied, i decided to use the cigarette lighter next to it to power my laptop. So, we get to where we're going and I go to take out the plug and the cigarette lighter assembly pretty much comes completely off IN MY HAND! We're talking it's hanging by nothing more than a few wires, the metal cylinder and the bezel came completely off. Anyone else have this probelm?

I know some Corolla owners had this trouble with cigarette lighter. Need to be fixed by your service dept.

I had a similar problem. The lighter became totally stuck after I used the outlet to charge up a cell. It refused to come out, but the entire assembly was more that willing to help out. If I pulled on it anymore, the whole thing would have been in my hands! I took it to the dealer at the next service interval and they fixed 'er up.

I've had this problem before. I go to pull the lighter out and the inside pulls out halfway. I've messed with it a little bit so now the cylinder doesn't come out all the time.

I notice this problem also. Quick fix: Make sure the In-Dash Cigarette Lighter assemble is back in place, then turn the entire assembly to the right or left so it will lock in position. Now you can remove your lighter without the whole darn assembly coming out. This has happen a couple time to me with a Gtech, GPS, and air freshener just give it a turn.
