In Ottawa, I just bought my 2005 Vibe. Except standard discount policy and 0% financing from GM, The sales person refused to give any discount even if I want to pay cash for the whole amount. I do not know if it happened to other vibe buyer. If you do not count your trade in and GM discount, how much is your discount from your sales person usually?
It's always tough to negotiate on a new car. You'll rarely find a dealer who will budge. However, if you were to try and negotiate on a 2004 now (if there are any left), I'm sure you'd find the dealer MUCH more accomodating.I tried to negotiate in mid-late 2003 for my 03 Vibe, and got a few goodies, free shipping, free registration, reduced alarm, etc..
Welcome to genvibe! I went to 3 dealers in the Valley, Reid Brothers (Arnprior), McKenzie (Renfrew) and Butlers (Pembroke). McKenzie would give me $30 off, Reid would give me $150, and Butlers gave me $300, plus a bit more off, even after they had to bring my car in from Guelph! If you want some negotiating power on your next purchase, check out http://www.carcostcanada.com. I paid $30CDN and it gives you 2 choices of vehicles. It then gives you the dealer cost of any vehicle including accessories and packages, that $30 ended up saving me about $500 more!

I went to Turpin (they wouldn't deal at all...) then Lapierre in Hull (they cut about a 1,500 off) then to Jack May who came down even lower when you factor taxes and that's where I bought it. (I won't say but the base-price because that's rude but is was less than 20k... then taxes and freight)Vibes are hot and they won't negotiate, hence why 0 percent financing is not available. I bought in August and it was an offsite deal (the car was brought to the dealer from Orangeville) and got a deal because I was reccomended to the salesman. A dealer will deal with instock cars and end-of-year to clear their lots. They "usually" won't deal on new factory built or offsite stock. I knew what I wanted and had a price in mind. I didn't bulls@&t the salesman but told him the quote I got from Laperrier and asked if he could beat it. I called the guy and gave him my specs (colour, wheels etc) and all he had to do was make the deal. It took about an hour.Welcome to the board... happy driving,A"I hate road salt!"
