I noticed when I unplugged the harness out of the back of the factory stereo there were two harnesses. The main on with all the wires and one smaller one with one white wire attached to it. I didnt hook that back up becasue I didnt have a kit for it. The new HU funtions fine, the tweeters are working and everything. What gives? What is this 2nd harness for? Any ideas?
You can't just force a "Yeah, Dude."Satellite 2-tone with some other junk....
Depends on which factory radio you have. If you had M&T, then that's a mute control for the amplifier. Nobody's quite sure what it does, and it doesn't seem to have an effect.

Could be. Usually things labeled "Mute" are for an input...like from a cellular phone. You could test this theory by grounding the mute wire going to the radio, and see if it mutes (test it with a fuse, of course)

I was thinking more along the lines of this mutes the amp, so it is an output from the radio to the amp. Normally the 'mute' is an input to the radio, but with the problems reported with the popping/whatever when trying to use the M&T amp....maybe it is some odd OEM thing. Wouldnt be the first time
