Whelp, I was on my way home for thanksgiving, I go to Arizona State University, and I was on the crest of a bridge that you can't see over. I was following about three car lengths behind this blue mustang and I see her brake lights, and she stopped sooner than I had thought. I had less time to react and whammo I hit the back of her, a jeep behind me was following about the same distance I was and whammo again. All happend within about a two second span. I guess there were four vehicles involved including mine. A mercury sable had been rear ended by a blazer I guess, and so the mustang hit the blazer, so on and so forth. Three of the vehicles were cited for failure to control a vehcile to avoid an accident, I guess the officer was having a bad day so I'm gong to try to contest the ticket. I already received a radar speeding ticket so there goes my defensive driving school. 3 points on my license. Both of the airbags were deployed and our insurance company will probably total it. I saw the vehicle afterwords and it looked pretty bad. To make matters worse, the towing company that is contracted with Tempe police closed at 5 and they wouldnt let us in without driving 40 minutes in traffic to get some paperwork and pay 25 bucks IN CASH to get personal belongings out fo the vehicle. I swear they treated us like we were drug dealers or something. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I'm okay no injuries. Had fun on this site for what it helped me with and all of you gave me help at one point or another. Thanks a lot everyone, it's been dandy.
Since you are saying you are leaving I assume that means no new Vibe!?! What do you plan to replace it with should they determine it is totalled? That really sucks, though, what happened.

A few years ago, I was in a very similar accident. The car ahead of me rear ended the car in front of him. Even though I was following at a "safe" distance, his sudden stop from his accident threw my "safe distance" out the window.....and I hit him, barely, but enough to bend the bumper a little on my old cavalier. Being the good citizen I am, I stayed till the police got there. I also received a ticket for "failure to stop in assured clear distance" or something like that. I wrote up an explanation letter and sent it in with the ticket which was reduced from I think $115 to $75. It didn't get the ticket thrown out, but got it reduced a little.
Well I was by myself in the vehicle, and were going to contact an attorney before we speak to any of the other parties. It would have been better if maybe i had stopped in time not to hit the mustang in front and the jeep just rear ended me and at worst causing me to hit the mustang. I don't know we'll see what happens and since its thanksgiving weekend everything is closed! I don't know if I'll get another car anytime soon . I'm hoping that we get something from this, but I was thinking about getting a Scion tC probably an auto. I test drove one about a couple months ago and I really liked it. Hmmm I dunno.
