I did a search, but I haven't heard of anyone installing an Alpine Ipod Interface. I bought a new receiver 9827 and Ipod interface for around $300 (i luv crutchfield). I wanted to know if anyone had installed the Ipod interface, and if so where. The Ipod interface is alot smaller than I imagined. Probably about the size of two ipods side-by-side. I want to put it where I can mount/hide my ipod, but still be accessible. I was thinking the glove box, but that's hard to reach from the driver's side. I was thinking there should be room under the center console, and I could have the cable go into the little pop-out drawer (and mount the ipod in there). I have plans to do it this Sunday. If anyone wants pics let me know.
If you don't need to access the iPod adapter thing, you can simply attach it to the top of the head unit....there's TONS of space in the dash for the radio and accessories. This is what I did for the JVC FM transmitter I bought to connect my iPod. I ran a 6 foot long Mini-DIN cable from the transmitter to the pop-out bin under the shifter, and store my iPod in there when not in use. When in use, I simply pull the cable out of the bin, attach it to the iPod, and sit the iPod in the rectangular bin in the center console (the one right in front of the shifter bin). The case I have for my iPod is just the right size to "lock" the iPod in place in the rectangular bin.
