Checking the oil on the base vibe?

Question for when checking the oil on the base vibe. The oil should be between the two dots on the dipstick? That is what I think -- but in reading over the owners manual I did not think it is stated. How do you guys look at it?Ed

My oil level (base engine) is always at or very near the top mark on the dipstick.The owners manual (located here), 6-14 through 6-16, states that if the oil level is below the lower mark that you may need to add at least 1 quart of oil.

The top dot is full. The lower dot is 1 qt low. It should be at the top dot but as long as it's inbetween the 2, it's ok. If it drops to the lower dot, add a quart.
