GM says its 2002-2004 Chevy TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Oldsmobile Bravada and 2004 Buick Rainier models have taillamps that could fail, leaving drivers vulnerable to accidents. The vehicles involved include 946,817 SUVs. In addition to the SUV recall, GM will recall the '03 Cavalier/Sunfire twins for taillamp and turn-signal problems, for another 339,008 vehicles; the 2003 Chevy Malibu, Pontiac Grand Am and Olds Alero for sticky accelerator pedals, adding another 204,317 vehicles; and a final recall of the new Cadillac XLR and 2005 Corvette for brake-fluid leaks in a total of 5914 vehicles. All told, the recalls add up to another 1.5 million recalled vehicles at a time when GM is trying to reduce warranty costs and improve the quality image of its vehicles.

well out of that recall list there, the only one I come across as being a problem is the cavalier/sunfire one... thats popular with the 03-04 sunfire, inop signals.

I'm wondering why GM never bothered to do a recall on the tail lights on a number of their other vehicles as well? I've noticed quite a bit of problems with '97-up Malibus (new gen. excluded) and many 98-or 99-up Grand Am's. (whatever year they came out with the current generation.)The majority I see have at least one light that stopped working... Some only had just the third brake light working. Went through the same thing with my Malibu, wasn't the bulbs themselves, but the module where the bulbs connect that snaps onto the taii light developed a short. I went through two of those. Kinda dangerous!

I had a taillight problem on my '99 Sonoma where the entire left bulb assembly blew itself out of the socket, and no other bulb would stay in it. They had to replace the whole socket.
I didn't show you one of those, Mike, so much as require it!My Father-in-law got the recall on his '04 Malibu. Stated that they had to replace the driver's seatbelt anchor, and that the ABS could have "unwanted activation". He's also had the power steering system replaced twice due to failure while driving.

I got a really weird notice in the mail the other day. It was a recall notice for my sunfire -- which was totalled 2 years ago. In it was the hose routing diagram for under the hood. The recall? It said the hose diagram could be ripped, destroyed, or missing entirely, and that sticker had to installed. They said you could do it yourself, or schedule a dealer appt to have it done. That's funny though -- a sticker recall!

The emmissions label recall... guess GM still thinks you own the car. But that label is important to have (for operational cars) and does peel off. Funny how it took them this long to get around to replacing those labels haha. you got a free sticker from GM there Mike.

I was happy when I noticed the Vibe's lights just have wires with a socket attached at the end for the bulbs, like they should... If the socket craps out, just cut off the old one and splice on the new... A module that only has one connection for all the wiring and several sockets for the bulbs is a good idea for reducing complexity, but GM could stand to make a few improvements to that concept. Mike, here's an equation I just pulled out of, uh, somewhere, for your HP question... Vibe HP + Sunfire HP / 3.141592653589793 = gain from adding the sticker! So if the Sunfire had 140 HP and with the Vibe's 130, you're looking at a gain of 85 HP! So in all reality, we're talking 215 horsepower! Look out GT's, base with SC's, and heck, even would give a new G6 a run for the money. All that for freeee! hehehe...
