Anyone used Ebay to sell?

Post by damronjr »

I have been trying to sell some stuff that I took off my 2002 S-10 Xtreme, as you may have noticed from the thread I posted (Generation Vibe Discussion Forums » For Sale/Wanted » Off topic, for sale from 2002 Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme), and I have been considering selling them on Ebay. I have bought things on Ebay, but never sold anything. Some of the things that worry me are: problems with buyers, shipping (since it is rims and tires, tonneau top, bed rug, etc...), and cost to sell. More than anything I am worried about shipping, mainly how to ship these things! I don't even know where to get boxes for this kind of stuff. I know you can chose to sell locally, or pick-up only, but that will definitely limit my potential buyers. I have tried to sell them with flyers and such, but with no luck. Any suggestions or advise on using Ebay to sell stuff like this?

It regards to buyers.. weed out the people with no feedback.. You can check any potential buyers feedback and feedback left for others to see how honest they are. Also checking out any potential buyers bidding history.. they all play into clues for a drama free transaction

i've sold many many things on ebay. sometimes it works and sometimes not. i have a ton of parts from my tundra still and some credit card equipment i need to sell as well! oops! guess i should do that soon...havent had any probs w/ customers as long as they pay via paypal. i won't take a check what so ever! i make sure my price is padded to include any fees i might incur from the transaction, such as credit card fees, ebay fees, etc. just make sure you list your rules out, set a time frame when they need to pay, etc. i usually say 3-5 days, depending on item. then i make sure i email them and correspond with them so it's as smooth as possible.

I sell equipment on ebay every now and then,Really odd ball stuff, It's a little hard to find so I make really good money at it.A normal example would be, I buy for $25.00 and they normally sell between $500.00-$800.00. Don't ask what it is, there hard enough to find now.Packing materials like boxs, I usally find big box's and cut then down to fit and tape the heck out of it. Some equipment I have to buy wood and crate them. Take plenty of pictures, box them up weight and measure the package. I ship most of my stuff FED-EX because there cheaper then UPS.Add up your packaging expense's and then charge them the actull shipping charge's.I'll sell to a new buyer, but if there is negative remarks about them, I'll email them for a explaination and then I decide if I remove them or not.I have never had a problem buying or selling on Ebay since I started in 98. knock on wood! The more you write about your parts and the condition the better you will do, and the happier you and your buyer will be.

In regards to shipping, go to your local neighborhood shipping store, like a Mailboxes Etc, or the UPS Store with your wares. Ask them how much it would cost to box and ship item A, B, C, Etc.When you sell, there's a special section you fill out to say "This is how much extra you have to pay for shipping". Most people take that into consideration when buying. Also, make sure you have a paypal account. Make sure, also, that you have a confirmed address and that you're "verified". Both are easy to do. Give Paypal your address and a credit card, also, your checking account info. They cross-check everything to make sure you're who you say you are.If you want the least amount of problems, put in the auction that you want to sell only to "Confirmed" shipping addresses. That way, nobody can pull a fast one, and paypal gives you some seller protection. When selling, put up a price you believe is fair, then make a buy-it-now for whatever you really want.Make sure you also have a picture, or several, of each item. Most people are suspicious of auctions without pictures. As far as paypal goes, it's free, as long as people don't use their credit card. You can specify that as well.
