window cranks

Post by giomshadow »

...the vibe's a dream...even in a blizzard...but...the window cranks are a bit light...someone a while back mentioned the visors and the emergency brake...which seem ok to me...but the cranks almost feel like they would break when cranking quickly...

Wait a second! You bought a Vibe with the $500 moon 'n tunes package, the $500 anti-lock brakes, the $350 side airbags, the $80 first aid/storage packs, the $95 cargo box, and the $50 cargo mat but you didn't get the $600 power package which gives you power windows, power locks, keyless entry and cruise control? That's an interestingly optioned Vibe.Sorry but I can't help much. I don't have window cranks. The windows on most cars get a little stiffer in cold weather. I always like to pull the door panel and grease the mechanisms in the fall. If they are real bad, I'd talk to your dealer it get it on the record and in writing that they checked it just incase something does break later.

thanks guys...it may sound weird but I like to keep things simple...I've heard too many stories about electrical systems... windows that don't open...I've been driving a wrangler...soft top...pretty simple machine......I picked options that were mostly practical and safety...using a key to open the car...cranking a window to pay a toll...didn't matter to me......it still doesn't answer the question...with the well thought out controls and features...rather light handles for the windows...blessings...

quote:it may sound weird but I like to keep things simple...I've heard too many stories about electrical systems... windows that don't open...Now you've got me totally confused. You want to keep things simple because you heard too many [bad] stories about electrical systems but you buy an electrical moonroof, electrical and complicated anti-lock brakes and electrical side airbags?quote:it still doesn't answer the questionI thought I did. I'm fairly sure I wrote:"The windows on most cars get a little stiffer in cold weather. I always like to pull the door panel and grease the mechanisms in the fall. I'm just a big pain in the (removed) who only wants to instigate problems. Just ask MadTv. He'll tell you I'm not much help.

I agree that power windows are more problematic. In fact, every vehicle I've had with power windows has had problems. But when you say you want safety, you shouldnt have wanted the moonroof. It is the single most dangerous option you can have in a vehicle. The mechanisms of a manual openig window will frost over, making them snap or pop when you first move them....this is normal in cold weather.

...no....no...it's not that they don't work...I never said that...I said they were a little light...as in materials...that's all...someone had mentioned the emergency brake in that way...and as I said...I think it's fine......didn't want to creat controversy...I had posted my original note in general discussion...the forum moderator decided to move it into problems...it's no big deal...did hope that someone might know of aftermarket cranks that would match......phew...respect choices...we all have a right to choose...the options we want for the reasons we believe in...blessings now and in the new year...

...as I mentioned...I have moved up from a soft-top wrangler...even with a sun roof...which I wanted so as not to have to use air-conditioning...which can aggravate an upper respiratory condition...
