I am new here, I am looking over ebay, only can find GM units for trucks.Does anyone know which one(part#) I need for a 2003 vibe? I don't have an amp, just the 6 speakers.

Yup, you have to have the amp to drive the 6 speaker system.Quote »But is there a way to add a oem nav system? If yes, what parts do I need?I'm not sure eveyr part needed, but I know the main unit and antenna are a minimum...probably need other stuff though, I know the speedo gets tied in somehow...at least I think it does...Jahntassa? Do you have a moonroof? If you do, you have the M&T system. I don't think that's a big deal. The NAV monitor should work with that.At the minimum, you need the NAV unit itself, and there's an antenna (with about a 2 ft long cord) that gets installed in the dash, under the windshield. Now, the problem with adding the OEM Vibe nav system to a car that doesn't have it, is that you don't have all the wiring it really requires. The NAV has a 6 disc changer that goes where your factory amplifier is under the passenger seat, and pulling out the wiring for that would be a hack job, at best. Without the changer, you can't listen to CDs while using the NAV system, as the NAV needs the navigation DVD in the internal drive in order to work. You can use the internal drive as the CD player, but, no navigation at the same time. Also, the NAV system should have a wire that contains the speedo, and a wire that has the reverse light signal. The M&T wiring harnesses don't have that, so your system will be a bit crippled. It uses those wires to let the system figure out where it is using "dead reckoning", so it can track where you are when it's not getting a good satellite signal. There have been reports with people getting the NAV running without all this (with only the unit and antenna), so it is possible. I'd suggest seeing if you can't find a cheap Pioneer AVIC-N1 somewhere, or some other installed GPS system until you can find the 2003/04 Vibe NAV on ebay. I'd sell mine, but I've nowhere near the money to afford what I'd need to replace it..

First of all thanks to everyone. I do have a moonroof. So I guess its a M&T package.I don't really need a cd changer, I can always use a FM modulator for cd and xm. The main question I have, Is all GM unit the same or I have to get a Vibe NAV unit?can you provide the part#?Thanks.
No, you can't get just any GM unit. The Vibe uses a different communications system...Databus II or something...or maybe it doesn't use that...anywya, a Vibe/Matrix unit is the only kind that will work in the OEM department...you can make any aftermarket system work with the Vibe with some work...Part Numbers:88972143 - Display/Radio, Navigation ($2650)88972459 - Disc, Data ($250)88971503 - Bracket, Display/Radio, R ($10)88971504 - Bracket, Display/Radio, L ($10)88971502 - Antenna, Navigation ($528)Still sure you wanna do that conversion? $3000 for OEM is nuts. Go aftermarket for less!

I have 6 speakers (four door speakers and two tweeters in the front doors in the pillar). I do not have an external amp. The 6-disc CD changer is under the passenger seat.

I found all other parts except for the unit. Is that number right off your unit? Thanks again
These are the part numbers from an 03 part listing...It's likely GM has changed the numbers since 03...That's the best I can do for you unfortunately...

I just went out to look at the car, there is no amp under the driver seat, only the 110v conventor. I am 100% sure there is no amp.I also took off the radio, saw the mounting points for the gps antenna, doesn't look like a hard install. The only thing now is to find someone who is willing to sell me the nav unit.
Well, if you don't have a stock head unit, could be the amp left with the original head unit. I'm guessing you bought used?I've got the '05 service manual, I'll try to check the wiring diagrams for the nav system tonight. The single and 6CD head units don't connect to the car databus on any year, so it's a good possibility the Nav system doesn't either.PS - The Totyota part # for the nav unit is 86120-01200. You could look under that as well. I'm sure you could at least get it from a dealer if not a parts shop (though for $$$$)

Yes, you're right. The amp is under the PASSENGER seat. Also, the antenna does not go directly behind the unit. It goes on the firewall, well behind the dash. It's not visible without removing the dash.

Quote, originally posted by ragingfish »The amp is under the PASSENGER seat.Glad at least you're paying attention, raging. I checked in the service manual- the nav system does have the cd changer control signal (databus) on the 24-pin, whereas the other radios do not. So raging may be right about the databus issue. ? Also, it has another connector with inputs for backup signal and speed signal. Seems like it may be more trouble than it's worth to try using a non vibe-matrix unit as he noted.

I checked the service manual too, but I didn't see any amp connection on the 04 model. Under the passenger seat is the cd-changer, and it does have some databus connection.http://manual.shulsmann.com/
Holy crap..does nobody listen to me?If you have a changer under the passenger seat that says "Pioneer" on the back, and you have two harnesses behind the radio, a gray, and a black with a blue push release, and the black connector has more than 1 wire coming out of it, you had at one point, the NAV system. Also, if you see a gray wire that's about 3 mm thick with a rectangular connector on it, that's the GPS antenna.Base radio: 4 speakersM&T radio: 6 speakers individually amplifiedNAV system: 6 speakers, tweeters run off the door speakers inside the door. The Vibe (at least 03 and 04) does not use the Databus II system, which means most GM navigation systems are useless. You can't pull the NAV from any other similar year GM vehicle and expect it to work..I think. There have been reports of DataBus radios working in Non-databus cars...just..not the other way around. Also, please tell me the GPS antenna (a $50 part) is $528. It's a fairly standard GPS antenna that can be used with almost any other GPS system...And in the 03, the changer ran exclusively through the 12 pin black plug.Kinda in random order, I shuttled through the rest of the posts..

I am kind of comfused, I have a moonroof, but nothing under the passenger seat, have 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, 6 discs indash head unit. I am so sure there is no amp in the car. Basically, I can just pop out the HU, and replace with a Vibe navi, and connect 2 wires on the 12 pin connector(in back of the navi) for speedo, and reverse.
The NAV puts out less, actually. The tweeters for the NAV system are just like the tweeters you can get at Wal-mart. They just piggyback on the front door speakers, and the radio doesn't even "see" them there. Whereas the tweeters on the M&T system are actual 4 Ohm speakers, and are seperately powered. And yes, is your car new, or used? And also, is it the factory moonroof? It could've been added aftermarket. Connecting the speed and reverse wires are a bit tricky. You'll have to buy a new 12 pin plug direct from GM with some wires on it, and then find out where to get the appropriate signals.
