I have been reading other threads and have noticed that many of you have seriously modded your engines via super/turbocharger or nitrous. I wanted to ask what each of you has done and how you liked the results. Also, what companies and how you came to be able to acquire these parts would be helpful too, then anyone could use this for future reference. Also, list if you have the GT or base, XR or XRS for you Matrix members. I am considering getting a supercharger from GM, but would rather have something aftermarket that might give a little more power. I have also heard conflicting information regarding the differences bewteen super and turbo chargers and would like to try to clear that up.

Yeah, I noticed that when I saw this link on another thread and when I tried to pull it up I got one of those search links. I read about this. How does it perform and how much does it run with all parts/labor?

IM faultline or he might reply to this thread when he reads it. He will have most the info you need. I think it will run you about $4,000 or more after labor but you get more HP (I think close to 200hp to the wheels)than with the TRD supercharger. Thes are the results from a Celica GT (base Vibe 1ZZ-FE) Engine: 1ZZ-FEFWHP: 251 SAEFWTQ: 225 SAEhere is the link to read. The kit is from Stafford Fabrications.http://www.newcelica.org/forum...94686Here is a link with info on different turbo/charger kits.http://www.newcelica.org/forum...47097

buy a toyota s/c they are going for cheep, i installed one on a matrix and a gm on mine of course and they are identical!! unless your worried about warenty , but what i would do is after installing the toyota kit is to get all the gm c.a.r.b stickers and what not and use them to trick gm techs into thinking its gm, and you can also buy the plaque for the s/c i gotta free trd one from a MO member so i switched mine out , my gm performance plate is a little bent up but not to badly
Here is what you could do and it would run you less that $3000 including installation. Read $1575 TRD SC (toyotaautoparts.com)$45 TRD hi-flow air filter (toyotaautoparts.com)$25. Shipping for above (not only are Ted’s parts cheap, he barely charges for shipping)$685 Unichip for SC’d 1ZZ-FE engine$350 Magnaflow true cat-back exhaust including Tax and install. (Local shop)$40 IK-20 Denso Iridium spark plugs (1 heat range colder than stock)$125 Custom tune of Unichip (Modern Garage SCL, Utah)$2845 Total, less than the cost of the not yet orderable GM SC alone!!!Priceless- The look on peoples faces as they are blown away by a Wagon. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9588

At 7 psi you are looking around 200hp to the ground , which would be about 225or 230hp at the crank in my estimation. The great think about this kit is that you can adjust the boost level, and the fuel kit adjusts to the manifold pressure to deliver enough fuel to not run lean, and a runs a tad rich to be safe. The kit comes with everything for 3300.00. It is already calibrated and ready to go from SF. All you need to do is install it, and then you are ready to go. You DO NOT need to tune your car after you put the kit on. You can, but, it comes with its own setting. You would probably have to pay someone 500.00 to install it, I can tell you right now, that you will make more power with the SF kit than you can with the SC...I have had it since Januarry of 2003. The longer it is on my car, the cheaper the price seems because of the longevity...I would be happy to answr any Q's you have though, and the parts to the kit are in my sig

Its about the same price (3,000 for sc plus install) its the best way to go.
