Well....it was raining all week here, and last night I finally got to wax it and treat the leather. I took these pics this morning before i waxed the vibe, so the light isn't that great. So here is pic 1
Former owner of a 2003 Vibe GT---Great car that gave me 8 years and 83,000 miles of trouble-free service.Current owner of a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited AWD.
futseal04,There nice car's except for a few problems. The gauges are hard to read because there spread apart and steering wheel get's in the way.The ABS & Traction control system is only good for about 100k.Same for the rear airshocks and air compressor. The power antenna will last a little longer. It took me 3 years until I figured out my battery wasn't under the hood. It's under the back seat. The plastic plenium sucks! when your water pump start's leaking and your low coolent light comes on Plan on replacing the plenium because it will be cracked and leaking coolent into the engine. When you get it back make sure the dealership put a PVC valve back in the car. ( make sure it's a tight fitting OEM part, other wise your tail pipe will start smoking) I got really pissed, when I was beat racing my now Vibe GT.(LOL)A couple of plus'sCop's don't look at you usally unless your really speeding. The only time I was ever stopped, was when I got a ticket for 95mph in a 55mph.Good luck!
I have seen some of the problems that you have listed in the reliability reports, and parts are next to nothing. Since i turn my own wrenches, it shouldn't be that bad to keep up. Most of what I have read is because people fail to properly maintain their car anyways.
I normally do my own work also accept for warranty stuff.Another issue I had was the driver door mirror.(the yellow one that auto darkening)They get black spots in them and the fuild leaks out, until You just cant see out of it anymore. there about $400.00 just for the glass part. But that maybe just an issue up here in the north with are freezing weather.I really love the catcher mit seats. They have a nice ride and are very comfortable cars, and the gas mileage is nice on the highway. All the parts on that car is weird. You'll find that the majority of them are not interchangeable with other cars. It was the same way with my old 86 Riviera. Most of the parts I bought were new from the dealer because I couldn't find used parts for it.Of course there getting old and younger people are getting into them, meaning more wrecks equals more parts. I think mine stickered at 34k and with GMS and rebates we walked away with it for 28k.Overall I wish they would'nt have stopped making them in 99, other wise we would have a newer one in our driveway.
