How many people out there never change the oil in their lawnmowers?Snowthrowers?I just changed my mower and generator for storage. Just bought a new snow thrower so it is good for 2 hours and then gets a change out. Obviously it is important to do...I am sure lots of people fill the oil when new with the oil that comes with the machine and then never change it out.
I'm always one that did, changed it based on how many hours it had been used... I know a few ppl that never do though, talk about grease in the crank case lol.

Yeah, I found out this year that you're supposed to change the oil in a lawnmower from my cuzin. My mower has been goin for 12 years and still runnin strong. I dunno. It's gonna be my dad's money if it breaks down. I've told em, he says no you don't have to change the oil on lawnmowers. O well, he doesn't want to listen to me, that's fine with me.Inder

No not a pain... It is better to change before storage due to the fact all the dirt and comtaminates would be sitting in the crank case all winter long and that is not good. Like my Corvette, it too got a change and will be stored with the fresh oil in it. Inder, if your mower blows up then looks like you will be getting a new one! However it probably will not since it does not hold pressure like a car but I am sure the engine is louder then normal by now. Why change it now I suppose just keep adding!
an oil change after 2 hrs? that seems a bit soon or is it because it is the break in period and they figure all the metal shavings will work themselfs out by that point

Per the manual it said after the first two hours change it. Then after that it said every 25 hrs or once a season.
