NEW silverstar question

Post by Merzbow »

I recieved a 25% off thing in my email for a set of silverstars...I know the headlight number is 9003. On their website the only 9003s I could find were the 9003ST. They are the "high performance Halogen twin pack" for $44.98 before the 25% off. I was just wondering what the differnce between the 9003 and 9003ST was. According to their application chart it is for the Vibe...but it says as the desciption: "Silverstar High Performance Halogen Upgrade: The Look of HID: Whitest, Brightest"It says upgrade kit...what does that mean?

ST is just a sylvania code for silverstar. Upgrade because you're upgrading "traditional" bulbs to the "look of HID."Make sense?

They are, indeed, an upgrade. Despite the seemingly quick deaths of the bulbs.

ooo, ok. Well on the applications list it says you can use 9003, 9003ST, and 9003(something else) so I was just looking for teh original 9003. But since I have the 25% off I might order a new set. Free shipping as well thanks for clearing that up by the way.

Honestly, is it work $33(after 25% off) if they only last like 6 months? I don't care how well they last when you have em on. I wouldn't get em. I'm stickin with my stock set for now. The other 9003 they have there are the CB. The Sylvania Cool Blue bulbs. They're slightly brighter than OEM, also a little more blue. So, this is just my opinion. Inder

WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! don't buy these worthless lightbulbs. They will last you about 6 months each, and then die. thats 30+/- bucks TWICE a year, for EACH headlight. Thats a lot of cash for a small (YES SMALL) increase in brightness and/or colorI'll stick with my stock headlights, which are bright enough for me.I sure wish I had my money back

And yes I will buy them again, the stock "yellow" OEM bulb sucks and honestly, it might last longer? but they cost just as much.

Yeah mine lasted 8 months. When it rains I may as well not even have my headlights on because they don't help me with anything. I think the silverstars help me alot. I dunno if I want the lights or soemthing else first though...

Okay, honestly, if you really want to increase your visibility, get the HID kit that's made for the Vibe. Ragin has em, ask em how he likes em and how hard it was.Inder

Talk to Mike about who he got his kit from. I have Mike's first HID kit, but the hi-beams are useless, not that I use them much... The kit he's got in now is pretty much perfect. You need an H4 Hi/Lo kit, and you should check out the bulbs before you buy. If you have any specific questions, get the seller to send you a picture of the bulb, and me or Mike could verify if it'll do what you need.

My kit is far from perfect...I still don't get as much coverage on high as I'd like to, but needless to say, it's a vast improvement over the kit Jahntassa got from me.My kit was almost $500...

I would buy them again for sure. They are super bright and if they do burn out in less than a year, Sylvania will replace them as will many stores where they are sold. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Isn't safety worth a couple of extra bucks a year!

If I had the money, I would definitely invest in some HID's. For one, they look awesome and two, they serve a very good purpose.Inder

The silverstars are worth the money to me and I think they are grrreat. If they show a deer on the side of the road and prevent hitting a deer they were well worth it. Time without the car and a paint job that never matches or is as nice as the factory isn't worth it to me. It will take a long time to pay the difference between Silverstars and a true HID system. So far mine have lasted 8 months.

When they say a one year warranty they mean it!! I have put on about 12,000 miles on my car since I put them in and they just burnt out, both at the same time, on my way home from the football game in Champaign, IL. So I had to drive home for an hour and half in the dark with only my fog lights. Haven't decided if I am going to buy more of them or check out the Nighthawks.
