ok, here's the story; my uncle went out by his car last night and kicked something. it ended up being a canon z135 camera! somehow, someone must have dropped it there, so now he has a $100 camera! i have no experience using "real" cameras and i need to know what these settings mean: anyone here know?

I don't have a Canon camera, but my "night scene" thing is different on my Pentax, and I think that may just be a mode for if your subject is backlit by the sun. That seems to me to be what the picture is.
Just for a little further clarification on Portrait Mode, my Canon S1 digital has that as well.On the S1, it makes the subject in the foreground sharp and blurs the background. I would imagine it's the same situation here.
My canon has to be sent back to Canon. I dropped mine quite some time ago. Then on vacation in September all my photos had developed a black dot. I thought maybe its a burnt out pixel, but no, it appears in the prints as well. I rubbed the lens but its still there.

We have a Canon PowerShot S100. For a 2.1 MP camera, it takes good photos. We also have a Canon Optura video camera, which we're quite happy with. How many MP is the camera in question?
