Just got the stereo off of Ebay, and i installed it myself (it was easy) and when I turn the car on it plays the radio for 3 seconds, then says it is LOCKEDI can load cds, and eject them. I did a search on the topic first, and could not come up with one, thanks.
I'm guessing a 2004 Toyota Matrix. I've disconnected the battery, loaded all 6 cd slots, ejected them back. I'm lost at what to do, since I just kinda figured it'd be easy.I have a M&T 2003 pontiac vibe, 5 speed, I love it...
I was told the vibes don't have lock on them. But my brother inlaw works at a Gm dealer and he said all he needs is the radio or the vin # of the car it came out of and he can call a number and enter in the info and it will give him the release code. as long as it isn't in the second lock mode.At that point you have to take it to specmo, which has an office in metro detriot some where.
Oh, god... Second lock mode????Thanks for your help, I'll send an email to the seller, asking for the VIN number if he has it.I did a google search and found a discussion about it being anti security or not. Specmo eh???? Hmm...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...70115Thats the item...Says it came from a new Matrix, which could also be a 2005 Matrix. The radio was made in August 03, so who knows if it made it into the 04 models or not.
Seller has a no return policy, but has a very high rating, so I trust him. Plus I have pay pal protection, so I'm okay with that. I sent him an email asking for the code or VIN. So hopefully he'll get back to me in a few days....
It's not an '05 - the '05s have the auto volume where the RCL is on this radio. (they moved RCL to the lower knob).I also bought a 6-disc on Ebay from a 2004. It wasn't locked in any way. When I looked into that before I bought it, the info I found said the only factory Vibe/Matrix radios with a theftlock are those with the factory XM.Maybe you've got such a unit? I don't know how the factory XM hooks up, if it's a separate module or what.

Well if it is indeed an XM radio, I think i'm royally screwed, being that I've read some stuff saying that XM works with VIN, and VIN only...:-(Okay, did some thinking. If it was XM there would probably be an indicator, such as a button, or something of the sort, plus something for a connection in the back...

In this thread, http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=13049 you said the Vibe radios aren't Class-2, but here you're saying this Vibe radio is. I have this radio in my Vibe, and I've had it out to look at the whole unit, and this is the exact Vibe in-dash 6-CD changer I've got. There are ZERO styling or other physical differences. It also matches all the pictures in the owner's manual. Also, stylistically, it looks the same to me as the single CD player. ????

It could be possible they changed it to a GM Type wiring, and thus, a Class II system. The 03 and 04's were not Class 2, but the 05 could be. I haven't seen any documentation for the 05 to tell me either way.If that's the way your radio looks, maybe they changed it over in 05..

I got my 6-CD in dash from an 04 Vibe. From the dealer I just got the basic audio package and replaced the 1CD with the 6CD.As I stated earlier, they added auto volume to the '05 in-dash 6CD, which changed the buttons a bit. The picture for his unit shows it is not an 05, but an 03 or 04.I know someone's posted the 05 user manual in PDF format in one of the forums, you can check the pictures of the 6CD in there to see where they moved the RCL button and put the auto-volume in its place. Also, since the 04 unit works just dandy in my 05, they haven't changed the bus and/or (as I suspect) it doesn't connect to anything unless someone has the XM box or remote 6 Disc changer.
