air filter for the cabin

wow just priced one of these boys..........retails for $57.54cdn at gm.crazy its only a lil filter...the one on mine was just packed with crap..........bugs dirt leaves........called toyota to see how much they wanted $32.95cdn.....but the guy at toyota told me it wont fit the vibe....hello they are the same car...are the filter boxes not the same size???? oh well the gm dealer told me the would give it to me for 45$......well with 72,000kms on it it needs to be replaced.

According to my owner's manual:"If you choose not to replace the Passenger Compartment Air Filter after removing it, using your vehicle without this filter won't cause damage."Since most of the time I drive with the windows open anyway, thus allowing dust and such in, when it is time for that filter to get changed, it is gone for good!

No the Vibe and Matrix cabin air filters are NOT the same. The Matrix filter is slightly too large to fit in the Vibe. take it out and blow it out with the air hose every oil change mine is 60k plus and still looking goodwill probably change it next summer

Hi there I just went and bought my cabin filter from Canadian Tire for $39CDN plus tax and it is the same brand that GM uses. If you can't get one for cheap then spend the extra to get the real thing. Since I have changed my filter, there is a HUGE difference in the smell of my car. I bought my car used and wasn't told that the previous owner had a dog. I could not believe how well the cabin filter trapped all that dog hair, dust, bugs (yes bugs...lost of them) and smoke sut. I know this is suppose to be done every 16000km but I will do it more often just to ensure that my car air system stays clean.This was my 2 cents!Spyder

I took mine out last week (74,000 Km) and banged the loose dirt out of it. I then washed it in dish soap, rinsed it and soaked it in bleach and water for 10 minutes. I rinsed it out thoroughly and air dried it overnight. It looks and smells brand new. Also there is one listed on Ebay quite often for $9.99 and the seller is in Canada. He has excellent feedback numbers.

it may be fine to reuse them by getting rid of the debris but washing it and bleaching will make it look cleaner the microair brand also contains a carbon layer and once stuff is attatched to the carbon molecules, you can really get the benefit of the carbon filter back to their orignall cleaning power.Spyder

Has anyone actually bought the C.G. Enterprises cabin air filter for $9.95?Spending $30+ dollars for that little filter is absurd. I was quoted $41 at the dealer today and $32 at NAPA online plus shipping and tax. So $9.95 plus $4.50 shipping sounds great if the filter is any good.
