So everyone knows the vibe has some sub-standard paint on it. Chips espscially in the hood are are happening at a rate much greater than other new cars. So has any one asked the dealer about this, does pontiac confirm the problem, is there an underlieing recall. I need to know if anyone has had there hood replaced for free due to this problem before i go in and ask my dealer for a new hood. So just tell me what you all have done and what your dealers or pontiac inc. has said. Thanks.

(A) recalls are for emergent SAFETY issues only. They won't recall a vehicle because of paint. A TSB MAYBE, but not a recall.(B) Even if they did, by some miracle, acgree to remedy the problem, they would NOT give you a new hood, but simply repaint the existing one. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There's nothing wrong with the hood panel itself. It's the paint on it.(C) You're not gonna get it resolved, but good luck trying.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I got my whole front end repainted last week. Got rear ended and got that done at the same time. Looks light years better now and hopefully this paint will hold up better.

LOL good thinking Mavrik like if you are infront of someone who is tail gating just brake as hard as you can infront of them, since they rear ended you its their fault
I'm taking my car into the Dealer's body shop in two weeks... I took it to my salesman to show him the pitting in the clear coat and they said they'd repaint the nose for free!

Well, I purchased a bottle of paint from GM and have been spending the day patching up my hood and my sides (which people in other cars just have to bang into). So, unless you are looking really hard, I think I got them all.

I have an 03' and the paint has been pealing and chipping since day one. They have tried fixing it, but no luck. It keeps doing it. Since then, I have taken it to the BBB and they said it was not covered under Metal warrenty that there was nothing wrong with the metal so no fixing it. HOWEVER, I am a contractor for GM and have been trying to get someone here to help me and I think I finally got some attention. I had a guy from Paint and Polymer come out this morning to take pics of my vibe and see if they can do anything to fix it. Everyone that I have talked with from GM said it should not be doing this. I will keep you all posted on the findings.
I noticed the poor condition of my paint while I washing the car this weekend. Chips and scratches, I've never had a car with paint this fragile. My 92 Jeep wrangler and 89 dodge van (traded the van for the Vibe) still have great paint in 2004. Where do I start to complain about my paint? The dealer? Or do I just contact Pontiac somehow?

I complained to the dealership, in which I bought the car. They fixed it 3 times then wouldn't anymore, so I called the GM CARES number and they looked at it, they wouldn't fix it. so next step is to go to the BBB, went there, they said that they couldn't help (went through arbitration w/ GM) BBB found in favor of GM because PAINT is not included under the metal warrenty. SO THERE IS NO WARRENTY ON THE PAINT. So next is to SUE. I am waiting to hear back with what my contact at gm says before moving forward with that. But it took a process of 5-6 months before I am at this point. When anyone signs the paperwork for a car you CAN NOT SUE until you have done the above process. Sad but true. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU! I will keep you posted on what happens with my vibe.
They are saying it is normal wear and tear. However, Paint PEALING is not normal and they are not coving it under any warrenty. But everyone that I have talked to here at GM is saying it is NOT NORMAL that I should continue on with my arguement. I am hoping that GM finds with there is a paint issue. Apparently Toyota is the one either painting the cars or choose the paint? I'm not quite sure but GM Paint and Polymer department is checking into it.
did that, 2500-3000 in damage just from pealing and flaking. That's why I persuing this. This is not suppose to happen, I read these postings and I am not the only one this is happening too. So hopefully others will start complaining and GM or Toyota will get the message.
