Just curious to know where other Vibe owners are in Ontario and to know more about their interests. There is no doubt that we are still a rather select group although I am beginning to see more and more Vibes on Ontario dealers' lots. Ig uess we should savour our uniqueness while it lasts.

They seem to get the most use out of them.Cam, if you think you are in a place where the wild things are you must think we are savages up here . I am in the part of Ontario on the other side of the map, where the scale changes to 1 inch=3 hours. We are on the other side of Lake Superior, closer to the Manitoba border than we are to Toronto. No we are not hibernating, just haven't come up with anything Ontario specific to discuss. I have had enough politics from some of the other threads to make me ill. It is too cold for any road trips to S. Ontario. We are going to Key West Florida by Vibe in a few weeks instead. There is one other GenViber from Thunder Bay, but I suspect her engine exploded as her idle speed was too high....Cheers!

I have never heard of anyone getting a Vibe they wanted so effortlessly. What did you get? Options? Modification plans?Welcome to GenVibe

Funny Frosty! Hasn't exploded yet - but the good (?) news is that GM has referred my problem to the District Service Manager! I'll let you know what happens with that one! Still high revving, and brakes clunking, and clunks when goes into gear ... won't bore you with more! Mr repairs are done on the bumper-only cost $2000 to fix! But you know what? I still love the car. Oh-I saw an Abyss monotone on Friday and a Salsa two tone on Saturday!

Had two Vibe sightings in the past two days. An Abyss GT Dec 15th and a Salsa Dec 16th, both around my neighbourhood around Avenue Rd and Lawrence in North Toronto. Other than that, a Shadow vibe last week. I do see a Matrix regularly parked near where I work, and looking at it makes me glad I picked the styling of the Vibe over the Matrix.

I am currently driving around with xmas mini lights plugged in, how is that for a unique way to get a small car noticed? Hopefully only the drunk drivers will whack me if I have xmas lights on.

Xmas Crown?Next Christmas my windows will be tinted in the back so I plan to put lights around the roof rack and run a cord out a window just when I am driving around the city. My wife thinks I don't have any christmas spirit. I'll show her...

A fun bunch of responses. Sorry that I have hibernated myself for as while as I have been away from a speedy computer hook-up. Hope you have a great time in the South, Frosty (don't melt) and that AtWork enjoys her Vibe as much as I am enjoying mine (though I am away from it at the moment). I wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy , Prosperous New Year to all Vibe (and Matrix) owmers in Canada and the U.S. A small vignette from the past.. as Murray Westgate used to say "Happy motoring". Can you identify that quote out there?

Good research, Frosty. Guess that I am the King of gray hair around here though, eh? On a total non-sequitur, does everyone know that apparently Esso has the highest sulphur content of all major refiners? I don't buy Esso gas any more.

That explains why my car smelled like a beer fart when I used esso. I have switched to Petro Canada and don't notice the smell anymore.I gave up on my hair, let it go grey, at least I have hair.

Sorry but I don't remember where I first heard about Esso gas sulphur content. I think that it was on a TV program like W5 or Marketplace. There were enormous variations as I recall. I only rememebered Esso as I used to buy it frequently. Not the sole sinners I am sure. Also many brands may come from the same refinery. I use an ethanol mix as often as possible. Check McEwen's and UCO gas bars. I'll maybe do some digging on this issue. I also always try to buy where there is lots of turnover to ensure that octane remains high and gas isn't watery. For we Northerners of course ethanol is instant gas line antifreeze.

Exxon is Esso here in Canada. I would suggest that you stick with Shell perhaps. We don't have Mobil stations. Actually, I would suggest that you look for UPI or Sunoco unles we are talking an oil company credit card here. Frankly, I concern myself more with the best price and the highest turnover for gasoline. I don't know if the U.S. is similar to Ontario or not, but we can have enormous price fluctuations within even a few feet of each other. I have noted that they all tend to rise ultimately if the market will bear it. It all becomes a bit of a cat and mouse game to get the gasoline while prices are down. It is also a favourite trick to raise prices at the weekends. Enjoy your trip to Canada and make sure that you get fair exchange on your U.S. dollar. I recommend using a credit card as much as possible to ensure that. Check the exchange rate on the internet. I usually think in terms of $1 U.S. equalling $1 and a half Canadian (ballpark figure).

Thanks for the tip but Irving Oil hasn't ventured to Ontario as yet as far as I know. I suppose that there refineries might be supplying other brand names but if so I don't know who.. If anyone has any idea about this by all means pass it along.

Sorry, I overlooked your inquiry about nice places to see, etc. If you are looking for great hiking, climbing, skiing, boating, fishing, golfing, etc. Northern ontario is the place for you! I can't think of where to begin. We have thousands of lakes and many semi-mountainous areas. To give you some ideas re glimbing and scenery search for "Killarney" (and I don't mean Ireland. Also you can get oodles of excelent tourist stuff from Tourism Ontario via the web or telephone. This should get you launched but I will keep my eyes open and perhaps post some links shortly. Are you a Winter person? There are toms of special Winter festivals in Ontario as if you are not a winter keener it can become depressingly long. Stay tuned for further posts. I might even make a thread about it if there is interest out there.

Looks, like a good place to jump in... being new to the group, as well as the Vibe (Dec 7). Still mourning and comparing to the 2000 Pontiac Montana I got rid of. Never noticed the sulfphur smell before with same brand of gas. Blamed it on the shorter wheelbase and that North wind that always seems to blow it back in my face when I get out of the car!Looks like I'm a new neighbor to Frosty, 3 hour drive in Northwestern Ontario is considered around the block
I switched to Sunoco after reading that it was lower in sulphur but I am still getting that stink when the car is cold, this morning my daughter was accusing me of being responsible! I just filled up with Petro Canada and will check to see how it fares.Pugs: Why are you mouring your montana?
