More get-up and go power

Post by Melis18 »

I have a 2004 AWD Ponitac Vibe and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to increase its acceleration (power) without decreasing my fuel economy, making it louder or voiding my factory warrant?

drukenvibe is correct... I have 03 AWD... I needed POWER... So, I supercharged it...I see, you are in Stockton.... My house will start contruction there in about a week and it'll be done in March... But, I'm moving there (Stockton) in December and live temporarily at my cousin's house until my house is done, which is only about 400 yards away.

The CAI alone doesn't make it that much louder, does it guys? And mufflers come in a very wide variety which give you a big range from very quiet to rather loud.

The short answer is no.You can't change anything on the car to make it louder or increase accelleration wtihout voiding SOME part of the warranty.A CAI voids the warranty on the air intake system -- and if installed wrong and the MAF sensor is damaged, or some big piece of debris gets sucked into the throttle and trashes the engine -- that's all on you. Granted, both of those are unlikely.Ane exhaust voids the warranty on the parts of the system you touched or replaced.A supercharger flat out voids the majority of the warranty, as the supercharger was not marketed for the AWD drivetrain.

Yes, I do not want to make it louder, I just want to increase it's acceleration power.

Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Vibe! Enjoy your stay!Quote, originally posted by Melis18 »... is anything I can do to increase its acceleration (power) without decreasing my fuel economy, making it louder or voiding my factory warranty? Totally twisted sense of humor warning!Drive it off a very high cliff?? The acceleration (but, unfortunately not the power) will increase as the distance to the ground far below decreases. Unfortunately, this only works once, because the warranty (and quite possibly the driver) will expire the moment the car contacts the ground.Truly the BEST way to enjoy your car more is to crank up your favorite tunes and sing along at the top of your lungs!Other drivers, hearing all the noise and seeing you singing to yourself will get the heck out of your way, and that decreases your travel time, making you arrive at your destination faster! It also won't affect fuel economy or void the warranty!

In real life, if it was a really really high cliff, as the speed increased, then the wind resistance would become a factor, decreasing the acceleration as it fell, to a point where the force from the wind resistance would match the gravitational pull, and the acceleration woudl drop to zero, reaching what is referred to as "terminal velocity"nothing like scientific analysis to kill a joke ---------------------------------------a CAI will make it a little louder, but from under the hood, and seems to be the preferred first power mod.

What about Unichip would this not increase the power and not increase the sound much. Unfortunately there is nothing to increase power and NOT loose MPG, but it was a nice addition to the wish list.

In a stock GT, the Unichip makes a noticable difference and in low end torque especially. Don't know about the base but if your willing to use premium, there must be a curve to give some benefits. Your milage may drop a mpg or 2 as it will run richer at low rpm at high load.
