You're contradicting yourself. In the first post, you're talking about side-impact safety. In the last one, you're talking about theft deterrent.Which is it?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Pass Key in GM vehicles is a chip in the key. If you insert a key in the ignition and the computer doesnt recognize the chip, it wont start. Our Van has it, it takes a split second before it turns over when I turn the key.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Immobilizer actually is the name commonly used by the automobile and insurance industry. So anyone know if "passkey" is standard on 05 Vibe? ... and if 05 Vibe has the same safety enhancement as the 05 Matrix?
I did some diggings myself, and "passkey" or "immobilizer" is not a standard or optional feature of the 05 Vibe in Canada or the U.S. Can you double check?thanks
Looks like you are correct, 008. "Engine Immobilizer" does appear as standard on the 2005 Matrix. Since I was looking at both I guess I got it in my head that the Vibe had it also. However, like you, I cannot find any reference to it in the Vibe literature.Sorry 'bout that.

I just bought our 05 Vibe yesterday and it does not come with Pass Key. I also own a 2000 Grand Prix GTP with does have PK III. The key from my GTP has a little engraving on it near the base of the key that say's "PK3". The Vibe key does not, and I could not find any literature that says it's standard or even available as an option. The Pontiac website does list a "Theft Deterrent" option under the "Build Your Own" section, but I don't think it includes PK III in it.
