I have been driving my Vibe since March. Love it! (Yes, I had to fix the rattle in the instrument panel, but who did not? 5 min fix anyway). I have a 6 speekers 200 Watts (factory installed option) sound system in my car. I have noticed that the volume control tends to be a bit too lound at the lowest set-up. In fact the actual sound level from the speekers stays on the same level from the third bar (on the radio display) all the way down. I checked two other Vibes at the dealer and noticed the same problem with 200 Watts systems. Regular radios go nicely all the way down. Has anybody noticed the same thing? Any idea how to fix it?
Ya, I noticed the same problem too. Although usually doesn't bug me, it does become a pain when you're trying to have a conversation with folks in the back seat. I haven't tried the fade/balance trick, but sounds like a good idea.
It's not a balnce/fade problem. It is simply not adjusting the volume all the way down. Kinda pain if you sit in the car with the engine off. Again, it's happaning only with six speekers 200 watts systems (as far as I know).
Well then something's either wrong with your configuration or somethings wrong with mine. I can volume my system down to where I don't hear it at all. I "know" I paid for the Moon&Tunes option, and there IS an AMP under the passenger seat. Some auto amps have their own input level knob. Perhaps the one under the seat does, and needs to be turned down on yours.I just talked to Pontiac Customer research tonight, and complained about the hard-to-get-shut tailgate. he advised me to have it serviced, and it they don't fix it to call the 800 number in the user manual. If I were you I'd complain to your dealer's service department. They should be able to adjust it so you can trun your volume way down if you need to.KSNeptune
quote:Thanks, I've never thought about it. This may be the case. Will check it out tomorrow.let me know how it turns out. I have the same "issue" in my Vibe. It is way too loud at the lowest setting for conversation or talking on a cell phone.

Checked the amplifier under the seat. No knobs or adjusting screws. Can someone who replaced the audio system share some details or show some pictures on how to remove the radio unit. Or even better, can someone who has the unit removed check if there is any volume setting adjustment in the back of the original radio? Why not dealer?1. The dealer does not have a "radio guy". All the dealerships I had to deal with in the past (Ontario) have these services contracted out to specialized radio shops (in fact some of these places are really, really good!). The catch - you can not go directly to this shop but you have to go through GM (warranty issues). So a simple audio repair or adjustment becomes a two days ordeal with appointments, drop-offs, rentals (or shuttles) - the whole works, and on top you have a slim chance to talk to the actual technician to explain what the problem is.
