2005 Moon and Tunes Stereo with Subwoofer better than 2004 Version?

Post by de387 »

I am going to buy a 2005 Vibe. My 2004 was totaled in an accident when a person ran a stop light and hit me!! I had it for only 4 months! :-(Anyway, I see that the 2005 Vibes have a subwoofer with the Moon and Tunes package. How does it sound?? The 2004 sounded good.Anybody out there with a 2005.Thanks!!jeff

We got to sample an 05 at the ohio meet, and i have to say, that sub is quite impressive for a factory system! Gave great low end...Definitly a good system!

As is my warning to most people getting the 'premium sound'. Make sure it's what you want! As of yet, I don't think there's any way to integrate the factory sub with an aftermarket radio. If it sounds great, and you know you won't change out the radio, go for it! I have no doubt it'll be much improved over the '04.

Heard the 2005's setup at the OH meet as well... I thought it sounds pretty good, adds some much needed low end to the system, something my 2003 with Moon & Tunes is lacking. If you don't want to fool with adding stereo equipment, I'd say go for it. I'll be adding the subwoofer to my '03 pretty soon... I think it would be more than enough for me, I don't need excessive bass, I just want a little more from the bottom - without having to throw a box in the back or worry about hooking up another amp. If you do want to modify the system, I agree with Jahntassa - you would save yourself a headache by not checking the box next to the M&T option.

I put in an aftermarket head unit and it works fine with the sub. It is pretty good sounding and does add some kick! The only draw back is you cannot upgrade the sub or speakers very easily so make sure you will not want to do that anytime soon. If you are wanting to upgrade the speakers or sub with your own stuff then go with the basic package and it will be easier to upgrade. I am happy with the factory speakers and sub and my new head unit!

I'm sure there is an option. But I like Justin said, don't get the Moons and Tunes unless you know for certain that you're not going to change the radio and the speakers. I did that, let me tell you. We (brother and I) had a fun time rewiring the new radio. This was before the How To came out for our car.Inder

I've got the 2005 Moon & Tunes and I think it sounds great. IMO, it's on par with a very good home system (I've got a Denon/Polk HT setup at home). The subwoofer seems to really enhance the sound, not overwhelm it. (And the moon roof is fun, too. )
