Borla or Magnaflow

Post by geepaks »

Which exhaust system is best for the 04 Vibe GT (Borla or Magnaflow)? It looks like they are both similar in price, so I was questioning if one has a benefit over the other. Thanks

Magnaflow gives you more HP gain. I think Magnaflow gives you 7hp increase and Borla gives you 2-3hp increase.

If you ask anyone on the forums, they will tell you that the Magnaflow is a true catback exhaust system. Unlike the Borla. So, I would recommend getting the Magnaflow.Inder

MagnaFlow for the reason that was already mentioned. It is a true cat-back exhaust system. Plus it sounds awesome!

Being a complete idiot on many performance issues....I am assuming you have to get the entire exhaust sytem to gain any HP, not just the muffler portion, correct? I priced the magnaflow at Crappy Tire and they are selling the muffler portion for just under $200. I don't really care at this point about power gain, but in Ontario we have this clean air test that must be performed every 2-3 years. Will a performance exhaust affect the test results?

It shouldn't affect emissions because the catalytic converter will still be in and taking care of emissions. Everything else down the line from the cat is just for noise reduction and exhaust pressure. That's all you'll be replacing either with the Magnaflow cat-back or any other axle-back mufflers.

If I get the full nine yards, the total price is still around $600.

600 are you getting it gold plated ?? I know from past experiance its cheaper to buy off the internet and then have it installed localy. On my eclipse i bought an Apexi CATBACK exhaust for like 300 bucks + shipping so 350 then the install was 40 bucks at a local shop.. Look around man No need to get screwed..

I live in Canada....you take $390 US and convert it to Canadian dollars...it will be about the same (let us not forget the taxes which we have to add to it).
