Ignore the Amp ? DVD Install

Post by platinum_ »

Hey guys, i am wanting to purchase the bellow set, and notice that hte output is 4x60watt, giving me 240, rather than 200 from the 200watt amp under the seat, and i am thinking there should be no problem at all with the speekers unless i turn it up to max. What my question is, how would i connect the two head units toghether, and have the one with the amp be hooked up to the 6 speakers ( i read of a cross wire or something to the tweeters) , and skip the amp .. or if easier, how do i hook them upto the vibes amp ?? Thanks in advance for your replies. I'm not sure. The audio pros don't usually come on 'til later. You should have an answer by tomorrow morning I would expect. Welcome to Genvibe by the way! Make sure you try the search feature, there is a ton of info on this site!

thank ebslopp for your reply, but to you audio pros i would really appreciate any advice , and i have found one more problem, it seems that no matter when, wether a cd is playing, or about to play, or not ... i hear a constant "shhhhhhh" from the speakers and its really starting to anoy me, its not always as noticable as it is when a song isnt playing, but i can always hear it just enough to anoy the hell out of me. if anyone has any insight on this too, please reply :D

Assuming you have M&T, you'd want to bypass the factory amplifier, but if you do that, you'll also need to replace your speakers. You'd get better sound running off the headunit, but you'd fry the headunit by connecting directly to the factory M&T speakers.I'm assuming you just removed the factory in-dash radio and installed the Pyle unit? If so, it could be a negative interaction between that and the factory amp.My advice: Get new speakers, bypass the factory amplifier. You'll be much happier.

nono, the original 1cd is still in there, and i do have the amp under the passenger seat, but why would i need new speakers if the pyle head unit is 4X60 Watts (240 total, 40 more than the vibe amp)

So wait. You still have the factory CD player, AND the Pyle unit? Or no?If so, how do you have that setup running? The Pyle headunit is designed to run 4 speakers at 4 Ohm each. The M&T speakers are 2 Ohm apiece. Headunits are not designed to take less than 4 Ohm speakers.Less resistance (Ohm), means the amplifier can put out more power. Which is why the factory M&T system uses 2 Ohm speakers, it takes less work for the amplifier to make more sound. If you connect 2 Ohm speakers to a radio that expects 4 Ohms, you'll likely fry the internal amplifier before long, if it doesn't fry immediately. So what we really need to know is what you have connected and how..
