Oil Filter

Post by myenvyvibe »

Just wondered if anyone had changed their oil filter yet. I can't see to find any store that knows what filter to get. If you could let me know the part number that would be GREAT!

Hello, I need oil filter info. also. There doesn't seem to be any answers on these threads. I have a Vibe base, 5 spd. I have a Toyota filter on it already. My mechanic gave me an oil filter with a slightly different part number. Does anyone know the correct Toyota part number? Thanks.

quote:Hey Nick,Are the oil filters for the base Vibe and the GT one in the same?Depending on brand. I believe K&N uses the same filter for both engines as well as Fram and Amsoil. Toyota uses 2 different types:Oil filter for XR(Base): 90915-YZZA2 (shorter filter) for XRS/GT: 90915-YZZA1 (longer filter)

Yes. AC Delco only makes one filter for both.

Does anyone know if you can use the "longer" filter on the base engine?

Adding a larger (ie longer) filter is never a problem as long as there is room and you add additional oil. For example, if the new filter holds a half pint more oil, you need to add an additional half pint to the engine.
