The other day when I was getting ready to head out to work in the morning, I noticed an almost grinding noise when of course I pushed the brakes. It seemed to go away after a short while. It's been in the 20's and 30's here for a while now. I was wondering if perhaps the cold had anything to do with it or do I need to get it looked at. My Vibe GT is only 5 months old.
As Vibe said, I would get it checked out. If you can recreate the problem, that would definately help also.I noticed myself that sometimes on cold/damp mornings when backing out the driveway, my brakes will let out a loud squeal until I have hit the brakes at the first stop sign. After that, they are fine. I also read on a GM TSB for another model GM vehicle, that they can spray something onto the brake pads/rotors to help eliminate this problem/occurrence. I will check to see if I can find the info. Here is a TSB quote I found:quote:A customer may comment about a brake squeak or a noise, particularly after a cold soak and on the first brake apply in the morning. The noise will usually go away after the first few cold brake applications. It has been determined that an application of Permatex Disc Brake Quiet, item number 82017 and part number 126HB, will alleviate this problem. For application, please follow the instructions that come with this product.Applicable for the full-size Sierra/Silverado trucks. Here is a direct link to the Permatex product: Here
