17x8 wheels, Tein Springs, looking for new tires

Last year I bought a set of 17x8 Millie Miglia Evo5 wheels with Yokohama AVS ES100 215/50WR-17 tires (reference link). I'm looking to replace the tires on these wheels and need some advice and tips.I'm still looking to purchase another set of Summer-rated tires (same as the Yoko's I have now), but want another brand and possibly wider size. What brand can be contained in another thread, my main question is the size.As I've stated, I'm running 215/50WR-17 currently and was suggested that I get 235/45R17 in the referenced link I gave above. This would be optimal to give a little more protection to the rim in case of a "curb-job", etc.I have no problem ordering these tires in this size, but I am wondering, with the Tein Drop (approx 2.1"-2.3") am I looking for trouble (ie. rubbing) with these beefier tires?Anyone with the equivalent drop and same tires or suggestions would be great. I could probably work something out and measure myself, but wanted to get some real-life GVC feedback, if any.Many thanks.

If you don't want to worry about rubbing, then get the High. Tech springs. They're a 1.5/1.7 drop. So, if you're really concerned sell your Tein's on here and get the High tech's.Inder Singh

Ahem! Someone paged the Mad Doctor, Mr S.?There's ton of stuff on some old threads (try a search for Big Boots), but bottom line is that as you know, I've got 275/40 x 17s on my Vibe. I now have about a 1" drop and encounter no rubbing. When I had Tein S springs, they did hit on bumps, but I'm sure a 245/40 would work with the right offset wheel (and has the stock OD), and several members are running 235s with no problems.

Thanks for the info MB! I ended up with a complete set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's in 225/45YR17 (Yoko's were 215/50). They're a little pricier but I'm going to try them out compared to the more affordable-priced equivalents to see how they hold out. 215-45-17 I have from Federal they are ss595 ultra performace. I can send you a pic if interested. They are great. you can check the on Federals website too.
