Has anybody had the opportunity to drive one of these? They look impressive on paper with 205Hp and a supercharged, intercooled ecotec engine. Only problem is it's a Saturn.

Yeah, but then I have to worry about it being a Chevy! LOL! Seriously though, why doesn't Toyota or Honda have cars with superchargers like that? I would actually consider getting a Corolla if they had a turbo or supercharger option from the factory.

Well, the S/C is an option on the Matrix/Corolla by the dealer. They install it and just add whatever amount it was to install it to your final payment of your car.

yeah, but that's not the same. When they do it like that, the cost of option skyrockets. With cars like the cobalt or red-line or even the srt-4, you get alot more than just a supercharger. You get better seats, wheels, etc...for like $2000! I would love to see Honda put out a turbocharged Civic, I think that would be my dream car.

I'm thinking the problem with honda or toyota doing something like that is that the aftermarket market is so big, that a lot of people wouldn't go for it cuz it would be cheaper to just buy a base car and mod it themselves.

Sounds like you hate american branded cars when in fact not much is actually made here anymore. Quality gaps have closed lots between domestic and foreign vehicles.

Quality gaps have closed lots between domestic and foreign vehicles. I don't hate american branded cars, I just prefer the looks and feel of a Civic over a Cavalier or a Saturn. I love compact cars and have owned quite a few different ones both domestic and foreign. If I could get one car back, it would be the '95 Civic. That car was so comfortable and it handled like it was part of me. Since I like the feel of the Vibe, I figure the Corolla would be right up my alley too!

what about the subies? they have the wrx and sti! and yes, you get so much more than just a s/c! nicer rims, brakes, short shifter, seats, suspension, etc! you don't have to add more and more parts to it!
I've driven one of these and I have to tell you I wish my gt was half as smooth as this thing was with the power delevery. It was almost hard to tell that it has a supercharger, it just seem to build power seemlessly an steady. The best thing about the car though are the recaro seats... very nice, hold you in place very well. The big supprise to me about this vehicle is that it has a 'retuned' version of the saturn ion 'electric steering' that felt great. The steering was a little on the heavy side and if I didn't know it was electric I wouldn't even think twice about it. The 'short throw' shifter is a bit shorter than a stock ion but it really isn't that much shorter. I guess what I'm trying to say is if it had a tad bit more room I would have bought one of these instead of my GT, and I'm trying to get the wife to lease one.

Oh my god, I would LOVE to get a WRX. With subies, you also get all-wheel drive! It's a little out of my price range though. I would like to keep it in the ballpark of $20,000 if at all possible.

Try the new SAAB 9 2's (I think). There is 2 versions, the Linear (Subi WRX) starting 'round 22K here, and then the Aero (Subi STi) @ 26K. SAAB name subi everything less the sheet metal (sound familiar?) and a better price.

still... i like that new awd saab that came out. didn't realize it was the subie engine! hmm.... maybe later in the future... ? nah, who am i kidding! i'll own this vibe forever! plus i want to pay it off so i have some money for some MODS!
It is kinda like the Vibe from what I have seen, Subi everything and SAAB Exterior. Actually I think the interior does have some minor changes. Who cares! I can now get a WRX with the GM discount!!!! Kinda like the SAAB front end better than the Subi anyway.
well maybe I could get a used WRX, but it won't be the STi I may have to hold out for a few years, then I will be making more money and can afford to have a sweet-@ss WRX STi
