Finally, doing sound system upgrade

Post by Sub-Vibe-R »

I will finally complete my sound system upgrade.I bought a pair of 2 way Infinity reference speakers for the rear door and a component set (speakers, tweeters and cross-over) for the front. I already installed the tweeters at the same location then the stock one on the M&T. This week-end I will complete the install with the 4 remaning speakers.

Did you put the crossovers in when you put in the tweeters? Or does the M&T amp have them built in for the tweeters?

Moons and Tunes has a built in crossover from the factory. But, once you get rid of the factory radio and amp. That feature is gone. Now, when you put a new radio in, you HAVE to change the speakers because, if you don't the radio will overheat. I've seen it happen before. The reason the radio heats up is because the most radios are tuned @ 4 ohms, and the stock M&T speakers are at 2 ohms. So, if you want your radio to last, change your speakers. In my case, I did not change the factory tweeters. I left em in there. Sound great with my Pioneers I'm runnin. Ask Merzbow. He's heard it before.Inder Singh

I know about the 2 Ohm / 4 Ohm difference. I was curious if the M&T amp had crossovers in it because the NAV system uses caps on the tweeters, so if the M&T did the same, without having the crossover in-line, he could blow the new tweeters because they're trying to reproduce way more than they are able to.

The work is completed and those pseaker sounds damn good. But my Hu push only 50W and it do not let them working at their full capacity. I will probably add another amp....And as for the stock speakers, the are 4 ohms and are total crap. And here the pics

Actually, your headunit is probably only putting out 18-22w RMS, which is way below where those Infinity's want to be. Obviously, they still sound better no matter what! But component setups like that are designed to have an amp on 'em, for sure.

Yeah. I was considerin bout doin it the way you have yours right now. Then someone told me not to do it cuz the amps can't breathe. So, now, I think I'm gonna do it.

All dfepends how hard you will run the amp. Also, the quality of the amp has a lot to do. Takes one who has good thermal protection, just in case.My JBL is rock solid and has a very efficient thermal protection, so that's why I was not worried putting it at this place.
