Had a local company named Derdall Designs put in a subwoofer and amp into my car. The criteria I gave them is that it had to be subtle and not takeover the trunk. Here's what they came up with. This is the Passenger side. This is the Driver Side. Now the Goods. Passenger Side again. This is the Drivers side. The Subwoofer is fibreglassed in and carpetted. The Sub itself is a Kicker Solobaric L5 9". The Amp is a Pioneer Premier with a capacitor right above it in the wheel well, the amp is rated 350W RMS and 600W peak. This is still a work in progress as they hooked it up and built everything in a day, did I mention it runs off of my base head unit. The Sub pounds but I have to keep it low due to the fibreglass still hardening so Ray at Derdall told me to take it back to them in a week to get the amp turned up and tuned properly so you can imagine that the car is going to really pound. Derdall designs is a local company in Calgary and in my opinion an amazing company highly recommend guys!!! They did this in a day imagine what they can do for yours if you give them more time.

nice set up, ivan! i have a kicker solobaric 8" and it kicks some hard (removed)! it's in a ported box that takes up a third of my back cargo space. so i like what they did w/ yours! very nice! are they going to make some kind of custom grill for the sub?
Nice install. But in that little space, is there any room for the amp to breathe? Jus curious. Other than that, looks great . I have 2 10" kicker competitions in my trunk right now. No room for anything anymore. .Inder

Well to answer the questions, I'm working on a design for a custom grill however since its covered up it be kinda hidden. There is plenty of room for the amp to breathe lots of air space in the pocket.and as for the cost well lets just say not expensive and not cheap. How much is the '05 conversion?

Don't forget that amplifiers are meant to vent from the face of the amplifier. They require a good amount of space directly above it, not vertically above wherever the unit is mounted. But, as you're going to build a grill for it, it should be fine.

How much is the '05 conversion?According to a previous post you can get the sub and the new side panel from gmpartsdirect for about $300. Plus whatever it costs to have it installed. This is only if the '05 panel fits in a '03-'04 Vibe and if the amp is the same in both cars. So it might become very pricey if nothing goes according to plan.
I don't like the big speaker grill thing on the side of the new 2005. I'll probably incorparate something unique to the side where the sub is before I go with a big grill. I like the fact it's hidden.

NO need for grill now, the wheel well has been sound deadend to the point where there are absolutely no rattles. I highly recommend this if you don't want to give up hatch space. Got to thank Derdall Designs for the great work.***edit*** see most recent comment from me..going a little bling bling.

Just want to update this thread I've decided on custom lighted grills, molded from fibreglass and clear Plexiglass. The lighting will be red and there will be custom wording carved in on both Panels. Pulled molds off of the Original covers and went from there. I'll post pics and shout outs once they're in and operational.

But one problem; I don't live in Canada. (Although the way things are down here I wish I did.) Anyone have leads on a "GOOD" shop that can do this calibur of work in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area?
If your going for just the Fibreglass and have your own Amp and Sub combo your lookin at 500 CAD thats including reinforcemnt and deadner. Hope that helps.

So you think about 300 US? I should come up to Canada and buy the stuff up there. I do love Paradign speakers which I believe are another fine Canadian product.
