I guess, if you are storing a brand new (unopened) gallon of Windshield Washer into the spare tire cavity, it work fine, but...If that container is half of three quarter full, it will leak all over the place (because the cap is not really meant to be leak proof), I know, I just experience it (had to clean the entire area). My question to you, is what kind of sturdy leak free replacement container can I use. Do you think, I will have more chance in the camping good equipment or the kitchenware apparatus ?The only thing I saw, was those flat container to do your own oil change (to cap is on the side, therefore on top if you lay it on its side), but it is too big (16" x 10" x 4").Thanks in advance.P.S.: I know, I can also simply strap the windshield washer container with some bungee, or use the stand to keep it upright, or keep a cardboard box with 4 containers at the time, etc., etc. I'm just trying to see if I can use that tire storage compartment to its fullest (and I don't mind having to transfer the liquid from one container to the other).
These cars have a huge windshield washer fluid reservoir, if you fill it up it should last for a long time. I say store the partial fluid container in the house somewhere, and use it to top off the tank every month or so, shouldn't really need to carry it around with you.Other than that, how about an empty 2 or 3 liter soda/soft drink/pop bottle?
I've been using the same washer fluid since January! You shouldn't need to carry any extra around. But I agree with Joatmon. Perhaps a 1 liter or 2 liter soda bottle stored upright in one of the two side panel storage areas?

Same here, i'm runnin' on what came with the car from over a year ago.

I've never seen 3's in anything other than store brands...Popeye -- I think a 1 litre bottle would be your best bet. A 2 litre might still be too large.

One day on the way to work last winter, I actually emptied the entire reservior during the 25 mile drive. It was exceptionally messy that day, and it was horrible running out of fluid... Couldn't see squat thanks to all the salt being sprayed from every direction. I usually have a full jug of fluid laying somewhere in the rear floor, but that day I didn't. Think I may try to put some fluid in a pop bottle and stash it in one of back compartments for a reserve this winter.

I've found that the original container seals just fine if you use a sharp knife to carefully cut out the tamper-proof inner seal to the I.D. of the neck, leaving a narrow "sealing ring", then crank the cap down tight.

LOLI've not had to add any washer fluid to my car since it was purchased, and it's almost two years old. If you're going through a gallon of washer fluid in a day...man...that's a lot. Even if there is a lot of salt on the road.

It was dark, the road was covered with slush, I was ticked off for some reason, and, well, the rest is history. I just kept hitting those washers over and over. lolNormally, however, a gallon of the blue stuff will last at least a couple of months.
