Back motor mount help

Post by Smokin' Rubber »

Realized my other topic was in the wrong forum hehe, Nick will probably move or delete it anyway.Ok, but the question is, how do I undo the bolt on that back motor mount? I got the ratchet down there alright but the screw it siezed on soooooo tight and you barely have any room to get real leverage, so how did everyone else who installed the mounts themselves do it? Also I had a question about the nuts and bolt on the bottom... on the http://matrix.newobject.org/tech/esinstall/ how to they show that there is a bolt in the hole just to the right of the only exposed nut. Well, I looked in there with a flash light and there wasn't anything there... so I'm not sure what bolt the picture on the website is pointing tooIf worst comes to worst I'll just go buy a compressor and impact wrench from Sears and return it in 2 hrs for a full refund (even after using it) lol.

On the ratchet or the socket? And if so on the ratchet itself how did you do that lol, the only way I got the ones on the bottom of the car off is by using my foot to push really hard on the ratchet to undo the nuts, and on the 3rd one I cracked the socket in 3 places and had to go do a craftsman exchange lol.

Put the front of the car up on stands and turn the wheels all the way to the right. From the driver's side wheel well, take a good sized ratched with the 18" socket extension and loosen the center bolt from there. You'll need a strong wrist to support it with the extension.Remember to torque them all down to 48ft-lbs and put some RED thread locker on the 2 removable bolts on the rear when you're done.

I thought there was only 1 and 3 nuts? which reminds me where is the bolt you are supposed to undo under the car? Is it in one of the little holes or is it just on of the gray ones that are easy to see?

one/half inch ratchets are bigger and provides better torque. i was able to remove all my bolts easily by hand.plus 1/2 rachet and sockets are stronger.there should be 1 hidden bolt and nut up in the holes of the subframe crossmenber.somebody posted pics of it here somewhere.i put threadlocker on all my bolts and nuts.

threadlocker is a little tube of liquid you buy at auto parts stores its supposed to keep nuts and bolts from spinning loose and falling out.different colors are different strengths red is the strongest. see that silver bolt in your pic next to the hole, thats the bolt you want.2 nuts are hidden. 1 nut which you took off already and that big silver bolt should do it. they all should be the same socket size to be sure

OK thats what I thought (btw thats not my pic its from a how to guide), the first time I did it I figured they meant that silver bolt so I took that off and then I had the problem of not being able to really more the ratchet but now that I know you can do it with an 18" extension I can. Thanks for the help man I'll tell you how it goes probably by thursday
