Last Sunday, I was washing my Vibe 2005 for the first time (only three weeks old), at the end I opened the hood and I noticed a small chip paint on the horizontal portion of the front bumper exactly where my hood guard rest.Sure enough, there was a similar paint chip on the other side (perfectly symmetrical).I don't know exactly the brand of hood guard that was installed by my dealer at purchase time (it is not a "Perfect Fit" brand). It is the kind that has a decent gap from the hood.Anyway, since this was installed by my dealer, do you think that the dealer will at least repair these paint chip (not visible, when the hood is close) by putting some rubber padding to prevent the hood guard to chafe that bumper area again. Thanks in advance.http://cf.pg.photos.yahoo.com/...hotos

I have also discovered some paint scraped off the bumper where the hood deflector has been rubbing on it. Talk to them and see what they say!My deflector came with 4 clear rubbery adhesive bump-ons that you could stick to the hood where the deflector may rub. I didn't bother to install them on the hood, since there is more than enough clearance - I did not need them. In hindsight, I suppose I should have put them on the bumper where the hood deflector is rubbing. Once they fix yours, definitely get something on there to prevent it from happening again.I'm not too concerned about mine. The deflector hasn't damaged anything else, and like yours, the damage is only visible when the hood is open. My bumper looks terrible anyway, so I plan on getting it repainted soon. Once that is done, I'll add some padding somewhere to keep it from getting scraped up again.

That sucks! Mine has been on since around March. Not sure how long it took to scrape the paint off the 'ol bumper. At least it doesn't beat the heck out of the hood, I suppose. Thankfully, while it does screw up the paint, it does it in a place that isn't too noticeable.
