Genvibe login

Post by Phenolic »

Is it just me? Each time I login to this forum I have to go through the "forgotten paassword" routine. I always write down my password when I get it. A couple days later I come back to login again and that password will no longer work, so I have to have it e-mailed to me. Each time it has changed from the last session....???

What kind of web browser are you using? If you are using Internet Explorer, get rid of that use this web browser called Mozilla a.k.a Firefox. It works a lot better than IE. So, yeah. It also has a very good pop up blocker. If it's not that, then check your internet settings, they could be kind of messed up.Inder Singh

I use Internet Explorer with flawless results on this forum. Next time you log in, change your password and try that.

I know I've seen problems relating to if you allow Internet Explorer (if that is what you're using) to save Form Passwords. So when you type in your username on a form, it will remember your password and prefill it into the field. This may, however, be prefilling a wrong password if this is the case.I'd try clearing out your form passwords in IE by following the steps below:1. Open IE2. Click on the Tools menu3. Click Internet Options4. Click the Content tab5. Click the AutoComplete button6. Click the Clear Passwords button7. Click OK to confirm deletion of saved passwords8. Click OK twice to close the remaining windowsNot sure if this is the case but it may help. Let us know.

I had a problem logging in originally because I was switching among several computers. The computer I originally used had the 'cookie' file, and the others didn't. Once I settled down to a single computer, the problem went away. (Using Internet Explorer)

Thanks for all the tips folks, but each one of you missed the point. I am aware of how to make IE remember passwords. I doesn't matter if I have my browser remember my password or if type it in manually, I get the same message, Invalid Username/Password. The password that I just used yesterday would not allow me to log on today. I had to go through the forgotten password routine again and have a new one sent to my email address. It wasn't anything like the one I used just yesterday. By making this post I thought that I might catch the attention of a moderator or someone who maintains this forum. I will just live with it I suppose.

NSimkins is the site administrator, and he has replied. Is the system resetting your password each time you have to have it e-mailed to you? Maybe for some reason, it's not getting changed when you change it to something of your preference in your profile. IE can be kind of weird sometimes.

Thanks for the response. To answer your question, yes. Each time I email for a new password it is changed and that password will let me log on. If I log out and try back in a day or two that password will not work and I have to get a new one emailed to me. I will try to look for a pattern that may help me figure it out. I don't know if an anti virus program, a spyware program, or something else of that nature could be the cause.

I have AOL, but with respect to your problem, don't know that this means anything. I never log out, but simply close using the X at the top right of the screen. Doing it this way I've never had a problem either getting to or posting on this board.

All good responses in this thread, but yes, we'll need more detailed information. It seems that everyone else is not experiencing problems so if you could figure out a pattern of sorts that will be good. If possible, try to use the site (log in/out) a few times on another computer to see if you can duplicate the problem.Keep us updated.

Is your profile on this site configured to prompt you for the password with each new browser session, or stay logged in indefinately? If it is set to the later, you may try turning that off to see if it helps. I float around a lot, so I keep mine set so I have to keep logging in, and haven't noticed any problems. If you're running Windows and IE, I would recommend trying some spyware removal utilities as well. And, do you have any cookie management software running?
