Hey any who knows car audio you think this is a good deal? Some guy I know sold me a pair of 12" Rockford Fosgate Kicker HX2's along with a box which they were already wired into and a Sony Xpolode 1800 watt amp for $250 bucks
Is that Sony Xplod the Octagon amp? If it is, great system. But if it's not, I would recommend a better amp. Those subs are mad loud though. I have a cousin with 3 HE 2 12's in his Lincoln Towncar. His $hit is loud!. Inder Singh

For that price, i'd go ahead and get it if you can. I'd agree, though. If it isn't the platinum colored five-sided amplifier, then you can just sell that on ebay and get a better amp. The subs for that price is really good, especially with the box.

Alright sounds good, I can get just the speakers and box for $150 he wanted about $100 for the amp cause it was never used. I'll check to see if its the 5 sided oneGonna need a new deck too, what would you recommend? I want something that I can get relatively cheap maybe under $150 on ebay but is still pretty damn cool looking and sounds good?
This is pretty close to what it looks like I'm pretty sure (the one he's selling me), is this the good one or not? I know it does look like a pentagon but the corner kinda look flat? I looked on circuit city and best buy but couldn't find which amp you're talking about can you find a site with one?
The one he's trying to sell you is known to have heat problems, so it's probably better to stick to the subs only, and get an amp later. As for the headunit, if you're going to go low-cost, i'm gonna have to say get a Pioneer. Almost every other low-cost radio kinda sucks, even the Alpines.

Alright I'll just stick wiht the subs then. Can I wires them into the stock system and still have it sound good with the crappy built in amp in the deck? And can you suggest a particular one or what I should be looking for in the pioneer deck?
You can NOT...repeat.. NOT run subwoofers off either the deck itself, or the M&T amp. You need an amplifier that is appropriately matched (power output) to the subs that you have. Otherwise, you could destroy the subs, the amp, or the deck, or all three.Any newer pioneer is fine, but you really want something in the PIO-DEHP3600 or above. Circuit City has most of them.

I disagree with this statement. I have a Kenwood. I love it. No problems at all. Great sound. Works perfectly. Alpine, I have never heard that Alpine that has ever sucked. Maybe the stuff from like 1992. But, in this day and age, Alpine is known as a pretty good headunit. And Alpine is not cheap either. They're cheapest cd player is $140. On Pioneer, I have seen their Headunits under $100. If you want something cheap, get a Kenwood. They are somewhat cheap, they are great radios. For an amp, I would recommend a Pioneer amp. If you plan on changing your interior speakers, I would recommend the Pioneer 4-way 6.5's. They aound great and they aren't distorted at high volumes like the Xplod series speakers. JMHOInder Singh

Alpines have great sound all around, but seeing as their baseline is $140, as you said, and the mid-range Pioneer is $10-$20 more, i'd have to go with the Pioneer.I have other reasons to be anti-alpine, but i'll not go into that. Some Kenwoods are fine. Except for any of the MASK units. I've seen more of those die than almost any other brand. That, and their previous lower-cost lines weren't that great either, for looks/functionality.Sony speakers, with the exception of the P5 subs, do suck. Pioneers are better. For sub amps, though, i'd go with something like MTX, Audiobahn, Lightning Audio, Bazooka, or yes, Pioneer, if it puts out the right power for the cost.Pioneer speakers are good as well, though I would aim for something like Polks or the Infinity Reference or Kappa series. If you're on a budget crunch, however, the Pioneers aren't bad at all.Everyone sees different things, afterall. My reccomendation is just that. I may have other personal gripes about things, but my reccomendations tend to be pretty generalized, too.

Thanks for the info guys. Hey just curious what kind of heat problems does it have? and think I can resell it on ebay for more than $100?So this is the one you think I should get then Jahn?http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=trueIts about less $25 if I buy it here rather than through circuit city. Should I get it? Oh and would I be able to install this myself with help from you guys or should I have a pro do it? (In which case it might be cheaper to buy it from the store if they do free install)
Circuit City is doing free installs still, I believe. Also, the wiring is cheaper if you have them install it, approx $12 instead of some $17-$30 for the harnesses.Unless you really want to do it yourself, it may be more beneficial to have it pro installed..

Well in light of the fact that all 4 stores I went to wanted to charge me about $40+ dollars for installation I think I might as well do it myself and see if I can just find the parts for cheap on ebayIs it hard to connect the old pin setup to the harness you can buy for the pioneers?

The radio should come with the harness for the radio, but you still need to buy the harness for the car side, the antenna adapter, and the fit kit. I believe the Scosche kit for the Vibe sucks (From other users i've read), so you'd have to go with the Metra. You might be able to find wal-mart wiring harnesses, but no idea how good those are, if even available. It's not hard, you basically match up the colors. But is it worth the time and trouble to save the $5?

No, I guess not but witht the extra antenna adapter its then like $54 which is a complete rip off when I can by the parts for like $28 or 30 on ebay. They have the metra harness too I saw several of them
What kind on antenna adapter do I need Gm or Toyota or does it make a difference? I would assume that they would be the same but maybe not.Btw here are the prices for all 3 install parts I need (with shipping added):Dashkit----------------------$16GM Antenna adapter--------$4.50Metra Pioneer harness------$7.40Total-------------------------$28.90As opposed to $40 -54 dollars as they quoted me. I woudl say thats a significant enough price difference. Besides I'm learning a little about car audio stuff
GM. I don't think Toyota has ever used a non-standard antenna.

Ok thanks Jahn hey btw you work for circuit city right? Wanna drive over here and do the install for me since you would know how to beter? lolIt's not that far
Ha! Not that far indeed.I already have a 14 hour drive from Jersey to GA at the end of this week, I don't think I need to extend it by a few days!

Wow this is the exact totally for everything I bought that I would need for the radio (including the deck itself) with shipping included -New Pioneer DEHP 3600 ------------ $95.08-METRA wiring harness -------------- $7.44-Vibe radio dash kit ----------------- $15.98-GM antenna adapter --------------- $4.49Total --------------------------------- $122.99 So I ended up getting all the stuff I need to install it for $27 less than the actual retail price of the radio and $77 less than the radio with the install Working on getting an amp now too
