Less dents & a trimmer waist line.

Post by PopeyeFAFL »

Since I bought my 2005 Vibe (2 weeks ago), I started parking in the very last row of my company parking lot, where no other cars ever park that far (this add maybe 100 - 150 steps from the average distance). Each time I go to the shopping mail or the grocery store, I also park in the abandoned row where no other cars ever venture, adding more steps to my daily routine. This way, I will minimized the risk of having a dent from an opening door from the car parked beside my Vibe. But the real benefit, is the fact that I'm now clocking added steps on my pedometer every days, more steps = more calories burned and a happy Vibe without dents. So everybody win !If you think about, human being are funny, they will park into the door entrace of any store, saving few steps, but they don't mind walking 2 km to 3 km inside the shopping mail after that, crazy isn't ?

You what you gotta watch out for. I dunno if they do it around your area, but I know around my area, if you park your car, most people assume that you think that your car is too good. So, once in a great while, I'll get a scratch on my car cuz people love being retarded. Jus givin ya da heads up. I do this alot myself, but I also make sure that I have my friends cars around mine. So, I know that no one is gonna hit it.Inder Singh

yup, just got the vibe 2 weeks ago, but an 04. Got it tinted last thursday, friday discovered a keying from front drivers side back door, all the way back to tail light. Luckily, not very deep, and will hopefully be buffed and waxed soon, if only time would allow!!

Welcome to the club! lolI always park my Vibe as afar away from the doors as possible and it just cheeses me to see someone out of the whole lot park beside my car. I'll get all worried that hell with them parked that close, how did they get out?

man that pisses me off. i've watched people open their doors, especially w/ kids, and they smack the doors right into the next vehicle. and i've got a few door dings in mine. most everyone at work knows i'm very (removed) retentive when it comes to my car. so they are careful cause they are afraid what this little hormonal asian will do to them! lolbut my folks impala has a deep scratch all the way from the driver's door to the back from being keyed! cause they thought it was a cop car i guess. what asses!

I do this all the time with all of my vehicles and have never had any issues from it. Even my leased vehicles, never get them becasue I am carefull when I park them, why pay to fix something on a vehicle I do not own? When I did not park away, that is when I had issues. Once from a windy night at a theater I figured someones door got away from them and hit my car. My alarm beeped three times signaling it went off when I was gone. The car was black and I did not notice the ding until the next day in the light. Have to be careful when parking away like others have mentioned people can target it just because. I never park at an angle or take up two spots when I do park away from all the others. Must be working because I only weigh 150 Lbs.!

My favorites are the ones who will park at the front door of the fast food joints, go in and super/king/jumbo-size their meal, and top it off with a diet beverage and a yogurt smoothie with all the toppings. I think these are probably the same people who circle and circle and circle the lots for the close up spaces. You are definately doing it right!!!! I too park way out and walk in. I will even park on the very top of the parking garage with the Mercedes, BMers and other nice cars, and then walk up and down all of the stairs just to not have my car dented.

I'm there with ya too. (See attached pic - lol!) I try to park as far away as I can. So far, I've had only two dents on the passenger's side fender, and one on the driver's side. I take responsibility for that one, it was caused by me leaning up against the car. Had all of those dents popped out recently. Not too much damage for 35,000 miles I suppose. But it's all for not, it would seem... I get home and have assigned parking here at the apartment. So I have two people parking next to me anyway. The old guy who parks to the right was the one that put the two dents on the passenger's side fender. Luckily the other neighbor doesn't hit the driver's side.

From all the posts on that subject, no one commented on the added benefit of parking far, which is doing more exercise, therefore I conclude that:1- Vibe Owner are more concerns about their Vibe than their health or ...2- Vibe Owner fit the stereotype of a Vibe Owner, a very active person, doing all sort of sport & activities and they don't have one once of extra fat, LOL.So I apologized for being the only Vibe Owner out there with excess weight, LOL

Well, to be honest with you, the walk to and from the Vibe that I parked out in the boonies is about the only exercise I get. So yea, that's definitely a benefit.

I seem to have the ability to 'draw' vehicles to wherever I park. I can park waaaay out in the boonies and when I come back there WILL be cars on either side and/or at the front back....My friends laugh until they see this amazing automobile magnetism my vehicles seem to have. Im amazed myself that this automobile magnetism seems to also incorporate a stealth mode! People never see me coming either. Happens in the Vibe. Happens in the full size Silverado 4X$ p'up (not a small vehicle in other words, lol). Thank goodness I drive defensively.
