Need advice on where to put an adverstisement on my car...

Post by sensfanrk »

Hello! A friend and I are starting a new online store in the next couple of months. I would like to advertise our website on my Vibe, but at the same time keep my car looking nice and not like a driving billboard. I am leasing my car which prohibits me from putting decals on my car, but I figure I'll only put them on the windows so I can take them off easily without wrecking the paint. The back window has the wiper and the brake light, so that limits the space there... the back corner windows are very small to fit a website address, and I'd prefer not to put a banner across my windsheild, but I might just have to...Anyways, to make my point, where do you think I should put my website address on my car? Also, if anybody knows, will my insurance company and the dealership be mad that I'm advertising a business on the side or front or back? Thanks in advance!!

My best advice for location is somewhere on back. That is the best location for people to get good, long looks at your website. If you go with decals, chances are you will be able to remove them with minimal damage to the paint. I removed my dealership logo decal with no problem.

yes! i agree! and i used the long area just above the rear window. if you want to take the vinyl off, just heat it up w/ a hair dryer and it'll come right off!

The dealer shouldn't have a problem with it. They advertise on their owners cars with nametags, plate brackets, or plates. I don't recall ever reading anything in a lease that would prohibit it, as long as you are not doing something illegal. You are right to have concern on how it will effect the condition of the car. Here in the Northeast USA, some states require cars that are letter with a company name to have a commercial registration (which your lease company wouldn't want), so that may be an issue. How about lettering/painting something like a cargo box and mount it on your roof rack? More at eye level, wouldn't hurt the car, and easy to remove when needed (or move to another car/location).

You could try magnetic decals and put them where you want or static cling decals, too.
