Aftermarket CD-Player but NO SOUND!! HELP!

Post by Krackers »

I recently purchased a brand new CD/MP3/WMA player for my '03 Vibe. JVC KD-AR800 to be exact. I installed everything to perfection and everything seemed to work perfectly. The player lit up, flipped it's face, took a cd and began to play. NO SOUND!! Not even a little bit. No sound, no static...nothing! I've tried to take it to Audio Express, Street Soundz, everywhere. I even called the manufacturer! Noone has been able to tell me anything close to fixing the problem. Everyone seems totally baffled over this and it has become a nightmare to me. Someone please tell me what could be wrong and explain in detail how I can go about fixing the problem. Please tell me i'm not the only one who has had this problem...

just to make sure - read the manual?? Maybe a mute or security option???another, if the internal amp is blown, it should have no sound, right?? Which comes to this, where did you buy it??ohhh, and read thru the electronics/audio portion of the forum, maybe it has to do with the vibe!! I'm still new at the vibe stuff.

Do you have the Moon & Tunes package? Check under the passenger seat. If there's an amp under there, then you do. In that case, you have to make sure that the amp turn-on lead is connected to your receiver. Otherwise, the external amp isn't turning on and there will be... absolutely no sound, just as you're experiencing.

Does your car have the "moons & tunes" option? Did you use a metra wiring harness? You could partially remove the deck, splice on a temporary wire to one set of speaker outputs from the deck and hook it up to another speaker (home speaker would be easy) to see if the deck is putting out power.

even easier is to check for the M+T package. just a look under the seat, no? if you have it, you need the amp turn on lead...did you use a Metra harness? if so, its either the blue or blue/wht lead.....connect the decks remote-lead to it and you'll be golden...bmoney

Splice the blue/white wire on the head unit harness to pin B3 of the car harness -- it has two black wires coming out of it. Tap into either one.
