Backfiring sound with GT.........

Post by polaris1000 »

I am just wondering if anyone with a GT has noticed their car backfire alittle when downshifting or braking .The only time I notice it is in 2 and 3 gear when doing some sort of decelerating. My mods are CAI,exhaust, and Denso Iridium sparks IK20. I only noticed it after installing my exhaust. I'm not sure if it just sounds like a backfire and is really the exhaust hitting something. I do not have any CEL'S or lack of performance. I would say it sounds like a light popping sound and is not all the time. Anyone have the same problem.

That's not a problem. That's jus back pressure. That's what shows you that you have a good exhaust manifold. If you do the same thing on the base, you don't get any popping sounds. It's just back pressure. Nothing to worry about. Inder Singh

Everytime I let off the gas while in gear it does that and I'm still all stock.Every high compression engine I have ever driven has done the same thing.

Shifting at 4 to 5000 rpm makes mine do it.
