I'm going to watch, but not NBC. I'll watch CBC until I can't take Brian Williams and his endless commentary about who knows what. I've already sent one complaint to CBC about him (during the last Olympics) - I have no qualms about doing it again.

I'm sure i'll watch some. I remember one year, the games were is a radically different time zone, but the network still narrated and cut up the coverage as if it was all live during prime time eastern time. "While we wait for the judges scores to come up, here is a brief word from out sponsors ..." C'mon, the judges scores came up 8 hours ago!

If you have DISH network, you'll enjoy the Olympics even more.Go to channel 100, (Dish Home, or hit the "Dish" button on your remote), then "Olympics". They have a six-channel picture-in-picture feed of NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA, Bravo, and Telemundo, so you can watch ALL the events being broadcast at once, and even switch audio feeds or watch one event full-screen, and switch back to the PiP!I haven't watched the Olympics for a while, but I gotta say, that's a really neat idea! Now if only I had HDtv...mmm...HiDef...

I'm catching the replay of some of the gymnastics right now. One of the poor Chinese girls did a face plant on her landing from the uneven bars. Man, that's gotta hurt.I'll try to catch some of the soccer, too. Can't miss Mia Hamm! The swimming is pretty exciting too.So what's the big beef with NBC???

Nah, you're not likely to see any serious security measures like that outside the US. Most of the rest of the world is too worried about "offending" someone. Except Americans, of course.

well, at least all he snuck through security was a tutu. Imagine training your whole life for the olympics, your ultimate goal, you finally make it and are doing great, then some bozo pulls a publicity stunt for some lame web site and makes you blow it. Maybe we need to get tutu'd divers with genvibe.com written on their chests over to athens

He's done other stunts at sports events for Golden Palace, but Golden Palace "claims" they didn't ask him to do this one... yeah... right.

mens gymnastics todayQuote »Paul Hamm suddenly needed to be about as close to perfect as he's ever been. This at the end of a bizarre night when absolutely every gymnast in Olympic Indoor Hall had looked highly imperfect, like novices, not the world's best all-arounders. maybe we'll see some serious goofs

was watching women's beach volleyball semi finals tonight and it sucks that both US teams had to play each other. now we can't get a 1-2 finish. the best we can hope for is 1-3, which isn't bad, but still not gold and silver. i love watching the olympics! makes me proud of our athletes! and that canuck from calgary who won gold in the floor exercise... he did an awesome job! didn't see one goof up at all! hopefully that will bring some more pressure on men's gymnastics for canada. you know, i have to have my little US and Canada flags goingto cheer them on

IMHO, a lot of the problem with the basketball team is the fact that they're using NBA players. They make such a big deal about the other people having to be amateurs, so why not make the Olympics an honor for the best players in the tournament, and have the two coaches from the champion and runner-up coach the team? Those NBA guys have their millions, and most of them seem to just play more for the money than the love of the game. They can buy a gold medal, so what do they care? The NBA seems to be changing...the people who play for the love are getting fewer and farther between. The WNBA isn't huge like the NBA, and they do play for the love of the game...you can tell by the way they play. But men's basketball needs a major adjustment. College guys would play their hearts out, and it would be an honor to be on the Olympic team, instead of just another chore like a lot of the NBA players seemed to treat it.

Does the Canadian coverage of the Olympics suck as much as the US coverage? NBC has a monopoly and I can't watch anything other than gymnastics, swimming, and the occasional beach volleyball. I bet most people in the US don't even realize that there are other sports in the Olympics. Personally, I would much rather watch the whole event than have some gymnast's life story interrupting everything, and then watch him lose. C'mon NBC! More sports, less fake drama!

Turn it to MSNBC...they show more of the other events. NBC just shows what they think the majority want to see. MSNBC and CNBC show the other stuff.

unfortunately i don't have cable so i'm stuck w/ the lame drama that nbc brings. but they've been showing the track and field events as of late. when i was in the hospital last wk i got to watch some of the other sports like cycling, kayaking, rowing, etc. but yes, i agree, the lame biographies on a 15 yr old's life is way over done. let's just watch the competition and leave it alone at that.

I'm in the same position, I just have basic cable. So I'm stuck with only NBC. However, I went home during my lunch hour and turned on the TV and found them broadcasting indoor track cycling! It was very fun to watch and there were no stupid biographies.

Poking through my TiVo, I found they had interestingly enough planted a mini olympics preview on there for me to watch. Granted, a preview now that the games are practically over seems pointless, but I watched it, and it's pretty cool. I enjoyed watching the segment on The O'Reilly Factor on FOX News last week about Bill O'Reilly's theory on why the US is so dominant in the Olympics. But anyway, I say hooray for the USA! The only nation in the world this Olympiad to earn more than 100 total medals, and to earn the most gold and silver medals. Only Russia had more bronze medals. Way to go atheletes! Just another irrational reason for the rest of the world to despise us.
