Lack of Vibe sightings

Post by 2fatty »

Well, seeing as we have a thread for vibe sightings, I thought I'd start one for No sightings. On the weekend I travelled from Ottawa to Buffalo to catch the Bills game. We drove down Saturday afternoon, returned Sunday night. Its about 5.5 hour drive, although it took us about 8 hours to get home due to the brutal storm....I saw ZERO vibes and 1 martix. The matrix was in the stadium parking lot.

Enjoy it while you can because in a couple of years the road will be full of them.

Saw about 4 on trip from Stratford to New Liskeard. More than Matrices though. Kind of neat to be part of a select group though, don't you think?

There are a couple of others in town, I spot them each maybe once every two weeks. There are more Matrixes (Matrixies?) probably double the amount of Vibes. Don't know but that may be the proper proportional of total sales. Not one car seems to be owned by an "enthusiast" or "modder". They all seem to be owned by family or older types, myself included. So exactly what is the target market of these cars? There is one other person who frequents this board on the road here. I keep watching for the Vibe with the smoke coming out the back as it sits at a light, idling at 2000 rpm.....

I have seen about 10-13 (three were commercial vehicle). I think that the Matrix was a little more appealing at first, but the Vibe grows on you the more you look at it.

I'm with slbpsi63, there are more than 20 or so vibes and about the same for the matrix in my town. I Raced a matrix and vibe at the same time about two days ago. I came up behind them when they were at the light. As soon as the light turned green, they both took off with me right on their a**es. Too bad there wasn't a truck full of DVD players in front of us or we might have had to steal it Anyway it was qiute a sight to be in pack with them.

In over 10 weeks I've only seen 2 other Vibes. The one Matrix seen lives just down the street.

I see more Matrix's on the road the Vibe's. Although I saw one yesterday in Brampton with christmas lights inside their car. Cute as hell. Thinking of doing the same. Curious if a cop will pull me over though.

I have seen a few, I have only seen one Envy Vibe. The monotone Envy is the best looking one. If I could have afforded to wait for my Vibe, I would have gotten the Envy monotone.

I have seen 2 Vibes on the roads by me ever (neither of which are the Neptune like my car)....and 1 Matrix. I like this very much, especially for a brand new car. The Chicago Burbs must be the Grand Am and Grand Prix capital of the world because you literally can't go anywhere without seeing a slew of them.I welcome the uniqueness the Vibe brings me...I mean, with my old Hyundai Accent, I dont see many of those but it's nothing compared to driving a brand spankin new car that most people have never seen and then being the only one.......it's a great feeling I tell ya!I'm not sure the little mini wagon/suv that the Vibe is will take over the SUV market and drive out the big bad boys like the Denali, Suburban, Expedition, etc.

The day I got mine, I say 6 in a 5 mile radius!!!! Craziness...I have to say, I don't like the look of the matrix. The front is too....bleh. I like the nose with the pontiac dart on it, it adds a lot of character. ANd the roof rack adds a lot too, it's weird seeing the matrix w/o one.

My area (Northeast Massachusetts), I see at least one other Vibe every day. There is a woman near me with a 2 tone Envy, and near where I work I've seen a couple of satellites (like mine), a white 2 tone, a neptune 2 tone, and a couple of salsas. Also, not a lot of them on dealer lots, usually only 1 or 2. All the cars I see are base. Haven't seen a GT on the road yet.

Going on three weeks and I already have 1700. I purchased it with 12 on the Odometer. But doesn't it feel good putting on those miles?

I've only seen a couple of Vibes in my shadow color, but I've seen lots of other colors though. I've had mine for 4 months and have 5500 miles already. My RSX is a lease, so when we know we are going to drive alot of miles then we take my Vibe to keep the miles off the lease.

Banker one of the reasons you haven't seen any GT's is I haven't made a trip north of Boston yet. Actually I haven't seen many Vibes in my area (Southeastern MA/RI) either. A frosty (mono), a satellite, a neptune and an envy (two tone). Of those I have seen, none were GTs. I had to go a good 30-40 miles to find a dealer with an Abyss GT when I bought mine.

After work standing waiting for the bus tonite, I saw a Frosty two-tone that had company signage - a refrigeration outfit or something like that. Looked like he had a 8-foot ladder strapped to the roof rack. Then, as I was thinking I should take a peek inside to see what kind of storage devices he (she?) was using, (and how the heck that ladder was holding up) a Neptune two-tone pulled up beside it. All this after months of seeing none. Funny thing, I've seen exactly 2 GTs in 5 months of ownership, everything else has been base FWD. I guess I should mention that my smallish city is overrun with Cavaliers and Sunfires, Vibes are extremely rare.

Hey! I got my first from a fellow Viber in town. A shadow two tone base (i think) passed me last night going home from work. I wanted to tell him he had good taste in vehicles but he gave me the slip...

I have yet to have a Vibe owner smile, give me a , or even wave. What's wrong with these Jersey Vibe owners! Show that pride damn it! Anyway, counted the lot while waiting for Emily (my Vibe) to be serviced -- 6 on the lot. That's down from about 15 a month ago. Talked to the owner, he says they go as fast as they come. Interesting how I'm not seeing them more frequently. I AM however, seeing more Aztek's all of a sudden. Go figure. *shrug*

There's a Satellite Vibe in the parking lot at work (out of about 5,000 cars), but since I got my Vibe a month ago, today was my first on-the-road Vibe sighting. Abyss, monotone, waiting at a parking lot exit on the right side of the road. I flashed my brights a couple of times. No reaction. Sigh, the thrill is gone.

LOL. I hear ya man. It's sad. I think we should petition GM and encourage them to tell their dealers to tell customers who take delivery of Vibes to be sure to show the love to Vibe owners they know or pass. There should be a little card we can put on other Vibes in the lot that says "You've been spotted by a fellow Vibe owner. Spread the love!" ROFL!
