Ohio Rally 2004 - Aftermath

Post by NSimkins »

Another great one - the Ohio rally has concluded w/ many Vibe and Matrix owners, including great weather!Got to meet many new faces as well as the rally 'usuals' ... Around 25 Vibes/Matrices were on hand today and were able to enjoy the food and drinks provided by Dan Tobin Pontiac. My photos can be found here:http://gallery.genvibe.com/gallery/04ohioIf anyone else has photos, post them up here - I'm especially desiring to see the pics from our caravan over to the restaurant! *hint hint*Look for a write-up and additional info when I return from vacation.Once again, great rally, thanks to all who attended, glad to be able to meet you all! Thanks to Dan Tobin Pontiac for providing the location once again, as well as the food, drinks, and hospitality.

One last post before I crash in this lovely king-sized bed in my luxury suite...heh...I had a great time today/tonight, so thanks to everybody for being such great people and so fun to hang out with. It's great to finally be able to put faces and voices with names and text. I can't wait to go to another rally now! That's my car Mike is ripping apart in the photo gallery...installing an FM modulator for my iPod. And it works great, so thanks to Sir Ragingfish for having so much experience and volunteering to do the install. To those who haven't been to a rally yet...you need to go to one. Make time. Travel if you have to. It's so worth it.

'Twas for sure the most excellent rally!Nick -- Thanks again for basically doing my spring install (with minimal help from me). I owe you one man!(removed) -- Thanks for being "phone support" and IM support for us during the install.Kari -- Hope the FM Modulator works out -- let me know if you have any problems.vibe_raider, colonelpanic, phantomoperator, mr. poopypants, kari -- dave and busters and fridays were a riot! thanks for the good times.mrgoodrt - Let me know if those are the wrong part numbers, but I'm pretty sure they're right. To any and all -- if this was your first rally, and you've been bit by the bug, don't forget Toronto coming up in a few weeks, and then next summer, make your way out to Jersey for my Jersey Shore rally!Hotel worked out nicely. I got a couch! Much gratitude to Dan Tobin pontiac for the great food, great location, and the jump start. Yeah, don't forget your lights. Thanks also to Dan Tobin for letting us turn on an 05 model and hear the Monsoon system. It's pretty nice actually! That will likely be my next mod - retrofitting an 03 with an 05 sub - so watch here for information.

The FM modulator works awesome, BTW. I got the iPod all tuned to the right equalizer setting to work very well with the system, and now it sounds just exactly like a CD. I found turning the iPod all the way up doesn't introduce any distortion, but actually gets rid of the whine. I'm loving how it's completely hidden when I wind the cord back up into the storage compartment, and I can put the iPod in there on top of it. Great job with engineering that one. I'm going to love this on the drive home Thursday or Friday...thanks again.

Hey All!! Just wanted to say I had a REALLY great time Saturday. It was great to meet everyone and finally get some faces to go with the names. I do apologize for not getting around to everyone, but my stay was limited. We had a block party to go to in the development where we live. The builder is about done, so it was time to start talking about Homeowner's Associtations and stuff. While I will say it was nice to meet more of my neighbors, it still wasn't as fun as meeting all of you!!! Anyway, Just wanted to thank Nick and whoever else organized the rally, and of course thank everyone else who was able to attend. It was a great afternoon and I hope to meet all of you again sometime. Hope everyone had safe travels back home and I will look forward to chatting with you all on here... Vern

I was actually looking at Nick...so I'm not sure why the pic came out like that...haha. You'd look scared too if every extra part in your dash was laying all over the floorboard. My mom has asked me three times if everything is still working...LOL.Edit: What was wrong with the placards? Mine was fine...

At first I thought it was a radio installation, but then I saw you take off the shifter cover. So then I thought, oh he must be putting in a short shifter or something. But then I noticed it was an automatic! So what exactly are you doing to this car?

I love the ricer pictures...though it would have been funnier if one of them had come out at that very moment and wanted to know what the hell we were doing to their car. Edit: It's my car...and he's installing an FM modulator so I can hook up my iPod. The reason the shifter cover was off was because the cord has been run down into the storage compartment under the shifter, so he had to drill a hole in the top so the compartment would close.

Have an appt at the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out...It was the second time that day I'd done it -- so it's very possible the "damage" was done on the first hit.

Not sure...I've always heard a rattling when I slammed the hatch, which sounds exactly like the sound I"m hearing now (only it's constant now), so it's possible it's been a problem since delivery.Dealer called, BTW. Some new guy who booked me did so accidentally, they're not available until, Monday. ugh.
