I took my car over to America's tire to have them rotate and rebalance my tires. They told me that it is hard to get a good balance on the rims because they don't put weights on the outside of the rim. Any way, the steering wheel shakes back and forth worse than it did before. I don't like waisting my time having to go back again. I guess that next Sat. I will try again.
They are giving you a line of BS. Any modern garage should have no problem balancing an alloy wheel on the inside. Somebody screwed up or a weight fell off.
A thought here... Did they put hubcentric rings on?I got my wheels changed last week. Drove down the highway home and once I hit about 60, the steering wheel started wiggle but the faster I went, the more violent the shake became. I ended up pulling over and calling the shop. They neither Road-force balanced or put on hubcentric rings, which centers the wheel on the hub. Went back, they tried put the wheels on more centered but it still shakes. Will get the rings put on next week or I'm going postal on em cuz they KNOW of the problem and they KNOW how to fix it and they KNOW I have a 13 hour drive Wednesday and if it's not fixed, there ain't no way I'm drivin it that far...Anywho, sorry to rant a bit... Ask if the wheels were installed with the hub rings. Aftermarket wheels need em on the Vibe. If they didn't then this could be a major part of the shakes. Then hopefully they won't be so bad.Dave
No they didn't. When I went back later that day they told me that having no rings on there would cause the rims to not be centered properly. They were (removed) heads and would not order them for me because I didn't buy the rims or tires from them. They told me to get them from the rim supplier. I am going to call Jegs and Centerline to get the hub rings. I am going to have to think about if I buy my next tires from them or not. Usually they have great service. I think that this guy was having a bad day !
Jegs called Centerline today and they told them I need to go to America's tire or Les Schwabb. I talked to some one at Les S. and they are goint to order them for me. I am a little pissed at the guy at America's tire.
>QuoteQuoteNot only does the shop I use put the weights on the inside, but if the wheel spokes are wide enough, they can input the number and location and the machine will spot the weights out of sight behind them.
